Class AA Roundup - Washington pulls away from Pierre for state championship

Sioux Falls Washington 54, Pierre 36

SIOUX FALLS — Brooklyn Harpe and Grace Peterson combined to score 34 points as Sioux Falls Washington defeated Pierre to win the Class AA girls basketball state title on Saturday. 

Harpe led the Warriors with 21 points, four rebounds and two steals. Peterson finished with 13 points and six rebounds. Taryn Larson and Alexus Motley each scored five points.

Ryann Barry led Pierre with 12 points, four rebounds and two steals. Remington Price added eight points while Reese Terwilliger chipped in with seven points. 


Sioux Falls Jefferson 55, Harrisburg 34

SIOUX FALLS — A balanced scoring attack helped Sioux Falls Jefferson top Harrisburg for third place at the Class AA girls basketball tournament on Saturday. 

Jaidyn Dunn powered Jefferson with 11 points, seven rebounds and eight blocked shots. Aliya McGovern added 11 points, four rebounds and two steals while Cierra Watkins chipped in with 10 points, four rebounds and five assists. 

Kayleigh Hybertson led Harrisburg with nine points and eight rebounds with Jaylee Hofer scoring seven points and grabbing six rebounds for the Tigers. 


Sioux Falls O’Gorman 70, Mitchell 33

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls O’Gorman topped Mitchell for fifth place at the Class AA girls basketball tournament on Saturday. 

Mahli Abdouch recorded 17 points and four rebounds. Lucy Moore added 11 points. Kira Mentele logged eight points, while Paydyn Peterson had seven points. 

Mitchell’s Sawyer Stoebner recorded 14 points and seven rebounds. Addie Siemsen scored six points. 


Rapid City Stevens 53, Watertown 51 

SIOUX FALLS — Taaliyah Porter and Isabell Higgins combined to score 34 points as Rapid City Stevens defeated Watertown for seventh place at the Class AA state tournament. 

Porter led the Raiders with 21 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Higgins added 13 points and eight rebounds while Macey Wathan chipped in with nine points for Stevens. 

Jaida Young paced Watertown with 22 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Maddy Rhode added 15 points and three rebounds.
