Class AA Track and Field Preview - Sioux Falls Lincoln teams aiming for repeat titles

The Sioux Falls Lincoln track and field teams captured last season’s Class AA titles.

The Lincoln girls totaled 97.50 points, followed by Harrisburg (90.50) and Brandon Valley (89). The Lincoln boys recorded 120 points, edging Brandon Valley (119.50). Rapid City Stevens (80) finished in third place. 

It was the Lincoln boys third straight state championship, while it was the Lincoln girls second title in three seasons. 


Class AA girls returning individual state champions 

Note: These are returning individual state champs from the 2025 state track and field meet.

Charlee Williams-Smith, Pierre: Williams-Smith won last season’s 400-meter dash in :55.63 seconds. She was also on the winning 800-meter relay (1:39.69). 

Mya Arampatzis, Aberdeen Central: Arampatzis won the 100-meter hurdles (:14.58). 

Taryn Hermansen, Aberdeen Central: Hermansen won the shot put last season (45-6.50). 

Malia Kranz, Watertown: Kranz won last season’s discus (142-1). 

Jayaunna Stroh, Brandon Valley: Stroh won last season’s high jump with a mark of 5-9.50. 

Kennedy Ronning, Brookings: Ronning captured last season’s pole vault title (12-0). 

Ava Holzwarth, Rapid City Stevens: Holzwarth won last season’s long jump (18-2.25). 

Finley Langenfield, Lincoln: Langenfield won last season’s javelin title (127-7). 


Class AA boys returning individual state champions

Trevin Lounsbury, Brookings: Lounsbury won last season’s 3,200-meter run (9:23.41) during his sophomore season. 

Cale Haselhorst, Yankton: Haselhorst won last season’s 110-meter hurdles (:14.69). 

Kyson Fayant, Aberdeen Central: Fayant won last season’s 300-meter hurdles (:39.14). 

Dexter Johnson, Lincoln: Johnson claimed last season’s high jump (6-6) during his sophomore season. 

Lucas Honner, Lincoln: Honner won last season’s javelin title with a toss of 188-5.
