Castlewood 53, Aberdeen Christian 50

ABERDEEN — Kamden Keszler’s 30-point burst guided Castlewood over Aberdeen Christian in the first round of the Class B state boys basketball tournament on Thursday.

Keszler finished with 30 points, four rebounds and three steals in the win, Brody Bass added eight points and six rebounds while Will Aderhold totaled six points for the Warriors.

For AC, Luke Kaiser led with 11 points, six rebounds and three assists, Brooks Jett added 10 points, six rebounds and three blocks, Jett Johnson allied nine points, Grady Jett had eight points and three rebounds while Loyall Smith-Wade and Dylan Hofer each had six points in the loss.


Wall 60, De Smet 57

ABERDEEN — Teelan Kjerstad dropped 31 points as No. 6 Wall upset No. 3 De Smet to close out the first round of the Class B state boys basketball tournament on Thursday.

Kjerstad finished with 31 points, three rebounds and one steal, Emmet Dinger added 10 points, Jace Mohr recorded six points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals while Dawson Hancock totaled six points and four rebounds in the win.

For De Smet, Grant Wilkinson dropped 40 points, 19 rebounds, three blocks and a steal despite the loss, Noah Luethmers added 11 points and three rebounds while Slayten Wilkinson dished out six assists in the loss.


Freeman 63, Sully Buttes 55

ABERDEEN — Three players scored in double figures to pace Freeman to a Class B boys basketball tournament win on Thursday. Flyers hit 12 3-pointers. 

Freeman’s Tayden Kerrigan finished with 17 points and five 3-pointers. David Walter totaled 15 points and seven rebounds. Luke Miller added 10 points. Tate Sorensen recorded eight points and 10 boards. Luke Peters posted seven points and Tannen Auch had six points.

For Sully Buttes, Wesley Wittler scored a game-high 28 points and had eight rebounds. Jett Yackley added 15 points and six rebounds. Gavin Colson posted 10 points. 


Lyman 49, Viborg-Hurley 44

ABERDEEN — A balanced scoring attack powered No. 8 Lyman over No. 1 Viborg-Hurley in the first round of the Class B state boys basketball tournament.

MJ Diehm led the Raiders with 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block, Dawsen Volmer totaled 10 points and eight rebounds, Josiah Vaad added 10 points while Cole Kieffer collected nine points, six rebounds and two blocks in the win.

For VH, Jake Austin had 15 points, Brady Schroedermeier totaled 12 points, nine rebounds and two steals, Nolan Kolthoff had seven points and five boards while Braydyn Morrison netted six points in the loss.
