BURKE — The Burke girls and Freeman Academy/Marion boys won team titles at Wednesday’s Region 3B cross-country meet. 

The Burke girls recorded 23 points, narrowly beating Gregory (26) and Andes Central/Dakota Christian (26). The FAM boys finished with 20 points, edging Mitchell Christian (21) and Gregory (22). 

Individually, Freeman Academy/Marion’s Jada Koerner won the 5,000-meter run at the Burke Golf Course in 20 minute and :53 seconds. Gregory’s Asia VanDerWerff (21:10) and FAM’s Estelle Waltner (21:30) finished second and third, respectively. Burke’s Brecken Bolander (21:48) and Andes Central/Dakota Christian’s Anna DeHaan (22:13) rounded out the top-five runners. 

On the boys side, Canistota’s Josiah Schroeder won the 5,000-meter run in 17:13. FAM’s Tavin Schroeder (17:29) and Finley McConniel (18:04) placed second and third, respectively. Mitchell Christian’s Silas Holdeman (18:06) and Gregory’s Luke Sinclair (18:19) rounded out the top-five finishers.

Northwestern’s Boekelheide, Woodring win individual titles at Region 1B Meet

WEBSTER — Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide and Lincoln Woodring captured the individual titles at the Region 1B cross-country meet at the Webster Golf Course on Wednesday.

Boekelheide won the girls title with a time of 20:22.53. Frederick Area’s Morgan Sumption (20:58.72) and Deubrook Area’s Ellie Olsen (21:21.50) placed second and third, respectively. James Valley Christian’s Abby Hasart (21:21.88) and Hadasah Olson 21:22.22) rounded out the top-five runners.

Frederick Area won the girls team title with a score of 35, ahead of James Valley Christian (38) and Ipswich (47).

On the boys side, Woodring captured the title with a time of 17:49.91. James Valley Christian’s Dax Frandsen (18:11.62) and Frederick Area’s Johnathan Bretsch (18:21.34) finished in second and third place, respectively. Frederick Area’s Milo Sumption (18:29.88) and Deubrook Area’s Landen Johnson (18:32.91) rounded out the top-five finishers.

Frederick Area won the boys team title with a score of 46, ahead of Northwestern (47) and Deubrook Area (71).

 

Arlington sweeps Region 2B meet

COLMAN — Arlington swept the team titles at Wednesday’s Region 2B cross-country meet. 

The Arlington girls finished with 14 points, finishing ahead of Gayville-Volin (23) and Colman-Egan (27). The Arlington boys recorded 11 points, finishing in front of Centerville (36) and McCrossan (39).

Individually, Arlington’s Evan Fonseca won the boys 5,000-meter run in 17 minutes and :37.10 seconds at Sunrise Ridge Golf Course. McCrossan’s Ethan Hartung (17:51.70) and Howard’s Caden Schwader (18:11.17) were second and third, respectively. Arlington’s Jake Burns (18:23.49) and Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Tobias Arbeiter (18:41.68) rounded out the top-five finishers. 

On the girls side, Chester Area’s Emery Larson was the girls individual winner in 17:49.37. Arlington’s Kaelyn Ulschmid (19:15.34) and Colman-Egan’s Reese Luze (19:59.50) were second and third, respectively. Colman-Egan’s Presley Luze (20:16.32) and Gayville-Volin’s Jolie Westrum (20:28.83) rounded out the top-five runners. 


Potter County wins boys, girls individual awards at Region 4B meet

GETTYSBURG — Potter County swept the individual titles at the Region 4B cross-country meet at the Gettysburg Country Club on Wednesday.

Potter County’s Dannika Kaup captured the girls individual title with a time of 19:05.79. Highmore-Harrold’s Autumn Fallis (19:20.97) and Potter County’s Jadyn Ahlemeier (20:00.96) placed second and third, respectively. Potter County’s Emma Schlachter (20:22.11) and Paige Ahlemeier (21:15.18) rounded out the top-five runners.

Potter County also won the girls team title with a score of eight, ahead of Highmore-Harrold (22), Herreid/Selby Area (28), and Wessington Springs (35).

On the boys side, Potter County’s Nicholas Schlachter won the individual title with a time of 

17:14.73. Highmore-Harrold’s Dawson Hale (18:00.79) and Herreid/Selby Area’s Eli Hamre (18:44.50) finished second and third, respectively. Sunshine Bible Academy’s Jimmy Burma (18:55.28) and Lyman’s Mason Ryan (19:00.55) rounded out the top-five finishers.

Highmore-Harrold won the boys team title with a score of 15, ahead of Herreid/Selby Area (28) and Potter County (30). Timber Lake (39) and Sunshine Bible Academy (47) rounded out the top-five.


Philip captures boys team, individual titles at Region 5B meet

PHILIP — Philip swept the boys titles at Wednesday's Region 5B cross-country meet at Lake Waggoner Golf Course.

Philip finished with a team score of six, ahead of Lemmon (26) and Wall (29). Kadoka Area (44) and White River (50) rounded out the top-five.

Individually, Philip’s Trey Larson won the boys 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:17.96. Philip’s Wakely Burns (18:18.45) and Baylor Burns (18:53.80) placed second and third, respectively. Philip’s Tukker Boe (18:54.22) and Bison’s William Burkhalter (19:01.62)  rounded out the top-five runners.

On the girls side, Lemmon won the team title with a score of 20, ahead of Wall (22) and Philip (25). Jones County (30) and Bison (48) rounded out the top-five.

Jones County’s Jolie Dugan won the individual title with a time of 21:37.25. Philip’s Presley Terkildsen (22:01.66) and Lemmon’s Brynn Odenbach (22:10.15) finished in second and third place, respectively. Harding County’s Bailey Verhulst (22:38.59) and Wall’s Taylee Dartt (22:40.09) rounded out the top-five finishers.
