Class B Roundup - Warbirds clip Rustlers for third-place finish

Wolsey-Wessington 60, Ethan 55

HURON — Three players scored in double figures as Wolsey-Wessington topped Ethan for third place at the Class B state tournament Saturday. 

Mallory Miller led Wolsey-Wessington with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Leah Williams pumped in 15 points and grabbed three rebounds while Mya Boomsma chipped in with 13 points and four rebounds. 

Ava Lingemann led Ethan with 18 points, five rebounds and three steals. Marissa Storm made five 3-pointers and scored 17 points and hauled in three rebounds. 



Viborg-Hurley 71, Wall 61

HURON — Three players reached double figures as Viborg-Hurley defeated wall Saturday to repeat as Class B girls state champions. 

Coral Mason powered Viborg-Hurley with 28 points and 16 rebounds. Denae Mach finished with 16 points and six rebounds while Charly Nelson chipped in with 14 points, three rebounds and two steals. 

Paige Kjerstad led Wall with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Nora Dinger scored 13 points while Alexis Stephan scored 11 points. Rhea Tucker added eight points and eight rebounds for the Eagles. 



Castlewood 48, Jones County 43

HURON — Madeline Horn and Mackenzie Everson combined for 33 points and 14 rebounds to pace Castlewood to the consolation championship at the Class B girls basketball tournament Saturday.

Horn logged 22 points, seven rebounds and four 3-pointers. Everson added 11 points, seven rebounds, three steals and three assists. Lyndsey Archer had nine points on three 3-pointers and grabbed four boards. 

Jones County’s Mallory Valburg posted 22 points and nine boards. Jadyn Jensen recorded nine points and seven rebounds. Emma Hunt logged nine points and five rebounds. Jolie Dugan grabbed five rebounds.


Howard 54, Sully Buttes 44

HURON — Abby Aslesen and Kate Connor scored 19 points apiece to lead Howard to a seventh-place finish at the Class B girls basketball tournament on Saturday.

Aslesen added 10 points and four assists. Connor logged four assists. Trinity Palmquist had nine points and five rebounds. 

Sully Buttes’ tossed in 17 points and Allyson Wittler logged 10 points. Calleigh Chicoine scored nine points on three 3-pointers. Lydia Hill had five points.
