Corsica-Stickney 42, Avon 30 

CORSICA — Corsica-Stickney outscored Avon 13-4 in the fourth quarter to help secure a Region 5B girls basketball win on Tuesday. 

Corsica-Stickney’s Avery Broughton finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Sophie DeLange added five points, while Sydney Spaans added six rebounds and four points. Payton DeLange recorded nine rebounds, five assists and three points. 

Avon’s Lila Vanderlei recorded 12 points, while Courtney Sees tallied 11 points, five assists and three rebounds. Rilyn Thury had 10 rebounds. 


Arlington 83, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 38

ARLINGTON — Three players scored in double figures as Arlington picked up a win Over Oldham-Ramona/Rutland on Tuesday in the Region 2B girls basketball tournament. 

Addalyn Steffensen powered Arlington with 27 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Jaelyn Huntimer finished with 18 points and six rebounds while Harley Johnson chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds. 

Julia Trygstad led Oldham-Ramona/Rutland with 20 points and seven rebounds. Alivia Bickett scored seven points while Emily Matson had six points. 


Winner 73, St. Francis Indian 34

WINNER — A big night for Kylie Sachtjen and balanced scoring helped the Winner girls earn a win over St. Francis Indian in Tuesday’s Region 7A playoffs. 

Sachtjen delivered 20 points to go along with two rebounds and three steals. Cora Moss added nine points while Karlee Brozik finished with eight points and six rebounds. Eight Winner players scored at least five points on Thursday. 

Sharlee Kills In Sight led St. Francis Indian with 19 points and four rebounds. 


Freeman 62, Alcester-Hudson 36

CENTERVILLE — A balanced scoring attack helped Freeman earn a Region 4B girls basketball win over Alcester-Hudson on Tuesday.  

Ashlin Jacobsen led Freeman with 19 points and six rebounds. Peyton McCune scored nine points while Erin Uecker had eight points and 10 rebounds. Kate Miller also had eight points while Linsey Maske had seven points. 

Ella Serck led Alcesester-Hudson with 12 points, five rebounds and two assists. Alexis Gray scored 11 points while Elly Doering had seven points and 11 rebounds for the Cubs. 


Centerville 66, Menno 32

CENTERVILLE — Three players scored in double figures as Centerville advanced in the Region 4B girls playoffs with a win over Menno. 

Makayla Heesch led Centerville with 14 points, six rebounds and two assists. Mackenzie Meyer added 13 points and four rebounds while Thea Gust chipped in with 10 points. 

Layne Schmidt led Menno with seven points. 

Ashton Massey and Amanda Rames each scored six points for the Wolves.


Castlewood 64, De Smet 39

CASTLEWOOD — Four players scored in double figures to pace Castlewood to a Region 2B girls basketball win on Tuesday. 

Castlewood’s Madeline Horn logged 22 points, nine rebounds, four steals and three 3-pointers. Mackenzie Everson added 18 points, four rebounds and three steals. Presley Knecht had 11 points, seven rebounds and three 3-pointers. Lyndsey Archer added 11 points and three 3-pointers. 

De Smet’s Hazel Luethmers scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Jada Burke added 13 points and six rebounds. Alyssa Asleson had nine points on three 3-pointers, to go along with four rebounds. 


Viborg-Hurley 84, Freeman Academy/Marion 14

HURLEY — Four players scored in double figures as Class B No. 1 Viborg-Hurley got a win over Freeman Academy/Marion in the Region 4B tournament Tuesday. 

Coral Mason filled up the stat sheet with 24 points, six rebounds, seven assists and four steals. Estelle Lee managed 14 points, two assists and two steals. Denae Mach pumped in 13 points while Charley Nelson scored 12 points. 

Jade Koerner led Freeman Academy/Marion with eight points and three rebounds. 


Scotland 47, Irene-Wakonda 43

HURLEY — Scotland outlasted Irene-Wakonda for a Region 4B girls basketball win on Tuesday. 

Scotland’s Trinity Bietz finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. Martina DeBoer added 10 points and four rebounds. Claire Janish logged eight points, while Bailey Vitek had six points. Jenna Vitek tallied five points and eight rebounds. 

Irene-Wakonda’s Madison Orr finished with 24 points and eight rebounds, while Emma Marshall added 12 points and nine rebounds. Quinn McDonald had six points, five assists and four rebounds.


Hanson 62, Platte-Geddes 30

HANSON — Taziah Hawkins and Alyssa Moschell combined to score 30 points as Hanson picked up a girls basketball win over Platte-Geddes in the Region 5A playoffs. 

Hawkins was the game’s leading scorer with 17 points while Alyssa Moschell added 13 points. 

Karlie Goergen, Annalyse Weber and Kylie Haiar each had five rebounds for the Beavers. 

Cadence Van Zee led Platte-Geddes with eight points while Karly VanDerWerfff finished with seven points.


Parkston 61, Bon Homme 30

PARKSTON — A balanced scoring attack helped Parkson advance in the Region 5B girls tournament Tuesday.

Gracie Oakley had a solid game for Parkston with 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Abbie Hohn posted 11 points and grabbed six rebounds while having three blocks. Lauren Ziebart scored nine points and had six rebounds. 

Jaden Kortan led Bon Homme with 10 points and four rebounds. Taycee Ranek had five points and five rebounds while Kenadee Kozak chipped in with five points.

 

Andes Central/Dakota Christian 65, Burke 37

NEW HOLLAND — Andes Central/Dakota Christian picked up a Region 5B girls basketball win over Burke on Tuesday. 

Allison Muckey logged 21 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Josie Brouwer recorded 18 points, four assists and four steals. Mahpiya Irving had nine points and five rebounds. Halle Olson added seven rebounds. 

Burke’s Paige Bull posted 12 points, while Emmie Hauseman had eight points. Kailee Frank had five rebounds, while Bridget Bartling added four rebounds.

James Valley Christian 45, Deubrook Area 42

WHITE — James Valley Christian clipped Deubrook Area in Region 2B girls basketball action on Tuesday. 

JVC’s Kaylie Robinson finished with 22 points and three 3-pointers. Alexa Goertz logged 17 points.

Deubrook Area’s Kadence Bowne had 12 points, while Ellie Koenig had nine points. Skyla Peterson posted eight points and Miranda Moravetz scored six points. 


Wolsey-Wessington 61, Iroquois/Lake Preston 26

WOLSEY — Three players scored in double figures to pace Wolsey-Wessington to a Region 2B girls basketball win on Tuesday.

Wolsey-Wessington’s Malloy Miller logged 21 points, while Leah Williams and Mya Boomsma scored 12 points apiece. Taylor Horn scored eight points. 

Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Becca Bich scored eight points and Anna Decker added seven points. Hadlee Holt had six points.  


Tea Area 56, Elk Point-Jefferson 36 

TEA — Katie Vasecka and Mara Grant combined to score 39 points to pace Tea Area to a Region 4A girls basketball win on Tuesday.

Vasecka finished with 23 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists. Grant logged 16 points and 12 rebounds. Kendra McKinney finished with six points, five rebounds and three steals. Stella Peterson posted six points and five assists. Miah Weber added five points. 

Elk Point-Jefferson’s Kaitlyn VanRoekel had 12 points and five rebounds. Ashley Brewer finished with 10 points. Bentlee Kolbaum scored six points. 


Lennox 56, Dakota Valley 48

LENNOX — Three players scored in double figures to pace Lennox to a Region 4A girls basketball win on Tuesday.

Lennox’s Andie Peters posted 17 points, while Carli Kuyper added 16 points and nine rebounds. Dani Highum had 13 points. 

Dakota Valley’s Jorja Van Den Hul logged 16 points and eight rebounds. Cameryn Sommervold scored 13 points.
