Wolsey-Wessington at Parkston

PARKSTON — Wolsey-Wessington or Parkston will fall from the list of undefeated nine-man football teams on Friday.

Class 9AA No. 1 Parkston (6-0) will host Class 9A No. 4 Wolsey-Wessington (6-0) in a marquee nine-man matchup. Parkston is one of three undefeated teams in Class 9AA, while Wolsey-Wessington is one of four unbeaten teams left in Class 9A.

Parkston, which is on an 18-game winning streak, is coming off a 46-12 win over Platte-Geddes. Parkston’s Kolter Kramer powers the Trojan offensive attack, and recently finished with 129 rushing yards on 10 carries and a touchdown against Bon Homme.

Wolsey-Wessington bumped its record to 6-0 after a 38-14 win over Bon Homme on Oct. 4.

Against the Cavaliers, Caleb Richmond rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, and also threw for 140 yards and three touchdowns. Wolsey-Wessington finished with 264 rushing yards.

Parkston has defeated Wolsey-Wessington three straight meetings, including last season’s 54-0 victory.

Jefferson at Harrisburg

HARRISBURG — Four teams have separated themselves in Class 11AAA, and two of them will play Friday.

Class 11AAA No. 1 Harrisburg (6-0) hosts Class 11AAA No. 4 Jefferson (5-1) in a key Class 11AAA matchup. Harrisburg and Brandon Valley are the lone undefeated teams, while Lincoln and Jefferson are both 5-1.

The quartet of teams have key matchups down the stretch, and Friday’s Jefferson/Harrisburg contest will loom large in postseason positioning.

Harrisburg, which is coming off a 49-13 win over Roosevelt, is averaging 40.7 points per game and is allowing seven points per game on defense.

Jefferson’s lone defeat was against Sioux Falls Lincoln. The Cavaliers are coming off a 56-13 win over Stevens. The Cavaliers are scoring 36.5 points per game and are allowing 13.8 points per game on defense.

Jefferson has won three straight games against the Tigers.

Tea Area at Watertown

WATERTOWN — A pair of 4-2 Class 11AA teams will square off Friday in Watertown.

Class 11AA No. 4 Watertown (4-2) will host Class 11AA No. 5 Tea Area (4-2) in a key Class 11AA contest.

Both teams are coming off narrow defeats last week, with Watertown dropping a 27-20 double-overtime loss against Spearfish. Tea Area, meanwhile, dropped a 29-22 decision against Brookings.

The teams are tied for third in the Class 11AA seed points standings, with 41.833 points apiece. Therefore, Friday’s matchup will be key as the teams are jockeying for playoff positions.

Tea Area owns a three-game winning streak over the Arrows.

Yankton at Brookings

BROOKINGS — Newly-minted No. 1 Brookings will host No. 3 Yankton in another Class 11AA top-five contest.

Class 11AA No. 1 Brookings (5-1) will host Class 11AA No. 4 Watertown (4-2) for another key contest in the class.

Brookings catapulted to No. 1 after knocking off Tea Area, 29-22, on Oct. 4. The Bobcats are perfect against Class 11AA foes, with their lone defeat against Class 11AAA Sioux Falls Roosevelt (26-21).

Yankton’s two losses were against Class 11AA Watertown (27-13) and Class 11AAA Harrisburg (49-14). The Bucks own wins over Class 11AA foes Huron, Douglas, Pierre and Sturgis.

Yankton has won three straight meetings against Brookings.
