Harrisburg’s Regina Stoeser is looking to join elite company this wrestling season.

The senior is gunning for her fifth consecutive state wrestling championship, a feat only one other South Dakota girls wrestler (Peyton Hellmann of Bon Homme) has accomplished. Hellmann achieved the feat from 2021-25.

Stoeser began her wrestling career with a second-place finish in the 124-pound division in 2021, as a seventh grader. She followed it up with first-place finishes in the 120-pound division in 2022 and ‘23. She added a state championship in the 126-pound class in 2024 and another state title in the 132-pound division in 2025.

Stoeser will compete in the 130-pound division this season. There are 12 girls weight classes this season, up from 10 in previous years. The girls weight classes include: 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 155, 170, 190 and 235.

The other returning girls state championship wrestlers this season include: 100, Liza Krueger, Groton Area, freshman; 107, Olivia Anderson, Watertown, sophomore; 114, Alexis Bryant, McCook Central/Montrose, senior; 120, Finley Evjen, Canton, freshman; 138, Summer Guthmiller, Sioux Valley, junior; 152, Abbigail Lewis, Pierre, junior; 165, Rhiannen Heimdal, Harrisburg, senior; 185, Allison Konrad, Watertown, senior; 235, Eden Hach, Watertown, junior.

Bryant is chasing her third state championship, having also won titles in the 114-pound division in 2024 and ‘25. Evjen and Lewis are also gunning for their third state championships. Evjen won the 100-pound division in 2024 and the 120-pound division in 2025. Lewis won the 152-pound division state championships in 2024 and ‘25.

Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon’s Britney Rueb won three state championships from 2021-24, but missed the back half of last season due to a knee injury. She is a senior this season.
