SIOUX FALLS — With 12 athletes having run under 11-minutes the girls 3,200-meter run, the last event Friday suddenly becomes one of the premier track events of the 2025 Howard Wood Dakota Relays. 

O’Gorman’s Libby Castelli has the top South Dakota time in the field 10:26.87 but trails the top time of Century, North Dakota’s Ruby Ihmels (10:17.87). Harrisburg seventh-grader Brianna Reilly has the third fastest seed time of 10:29.88. The meet record for the 3,200-meter run is 10:19.74 by former Sioux Falls Roosevelt standout Allison Eckert set in 2006. Former O’Gorman standout Alea Hardie holds the state record in the 3,200-meter run (10:10.83).

Saturday’s 1,600-meter run record (4:53.60 - Alea Hardie, O’Gorman, 2022) also looks to be in jeopardy. Castelli has a season's best of 4:40.39 (South Dakota state record) and Spearfish’s Peyton VanDeest has also run 4:51.11. 

The girls 100-meter dash record (:11.74) looks to be in serious jeopardy. Anya Olson of Velva-Drake Anamoose, North Dakota, has a season's best time of (:11.54). 

Regarding the boys' records, former Spearfish standout Jaden Guthmiller’s record in the 100-meter dash (:10.45) will likely be challenged. Legacy’s Zayden Horne enters the meet with a season's best time of (:10.37). St. Mary’s athlete Colby Fleck has a time of :10.49 to his credit this season.
