Harrisburg girls, Brandon Valley boys lead Class AA standings after Day 2 of state track

SIOUX FALLS — The Harrisburg girls have surpassed Sioux Falls Lincoln while Brandon Valley remains on top of the Class AA standings after Day 2 of the South Dakota state track and field meet.

The Harrisburg girls have 59 points, ahead of Lincoln (51.5) and Brandon Valley (38). The Brandon Valley boys currently sit with 70 points, ahead of Harrisburg (43) and Brookings (38).

The Tigers were boosted by Aesia Aldridge (17-06.5) and Lilly Gusso (16-11.75) with a third and sixth place finish, respectively, adding nine points in the long jump. Brianna Reilly (2:12.70) and Bria Miller (2:18.47) added nine points with a third place and sixth-place finish, respectively, in the 800-meter run. Reilly (10:21.70), Hannah Genrich (10:53.11) and Jenna Gilhooly (11:00.06) placed second, fourth, and fifth in the 3,200-meter run as well, combining for 17 points.

Brandon Valley’s Wyatt Melcher earned a PR and a first place finish in the boys long jump (22-02) adding 10 points for BV. In discus, Madden Timmer (154-02) and Caelan Seeley (145-08) took sixth and seventh, respectively, to add five points. Uriah Dixon took home second in the boys pole vault (14-03) while Levi Veskrna added a seventh place finish (13-03), combining for an additional 10 points. Mikah Peters took home third in the boys 800-meter run (1:55.42) and second in the 3,200-meter run (9:26.07), combining for 14 points to round out the scoring on Day 2 for the Lynx.
