Platte-Geddes 26, Hanson 24

ALEXANDRIA -- Platte-Geddes stopped a two-point attempt by Hanson to secure a 26-24 overtime win in the Class 9AA semifinals on Thursday. The victory sends Platte-Geddes (8-2) to Timber Lake (9-1) next Friday.

Grayson Hanson led the Black Panthers offense with 99 yards rushing and 49 yards passing, including a rushing and passing touchdown. Hanson’s rushing touchdown from four yards out and two-point conversion sealed the victory for Platte-Geddes. Defensively, Jackson Neuman recorded nine tackles, Grayson Hanson added 8.5 tackles, and Joey Foxley tallied eight tackles for the Platte-Geddes squad.

Hanson received a huge night from Hadley Wallace, who ran 23 times for 157 yards and three touchdowns. Wallace scored a one-yard touchdown in overtime to set up the thrilling extra point attempt for the Beavers. The Beavers were led by Hayden Schroeder’s six tackles, and Kade Waldera and Jackson Jarding recorded interceptions.


Avon 30, Alcester-Hudson 14

AVON -- The Avon Pirates advanced to the 9B semifinals with a dominant performance that included 393 yards of total offense. Brady Bierema finished with 238 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 24 carries. Jaden Stahl picked up 68 yards on 15 rushes. Quarterback Riley Rucktaeschel completed two passes for 84 yards with two touchdown passes. Bierema caught one of those passes for 78 yards and a score while Lincoln Thury caught the other touchdown pass. Rucktaeschel led the defensive effort with 9.5 tackles and an interception. 

Jovey Christensen and Caden Winquist led the rushing attack with 72 and 66 yards respectively with Winquist having a rushing touchdown. Mateo Kleinhans completed five passes for 64 yards with one touchdown pass. Dominic Van Egdom caught two passes for 18 yards and one touchdown. 


Tea Area 57, Sturgis 10

TEA -- Tea Area marched into the 11AA semifinals erupting for 466 yards of total offense to earn a playoff win Thursday night. A good chunk of the damage was done on the ground with Jaxon Weber rushing for 100 yards on 11 carries while scoring three touchdowns. Chase Van Tol added 77 yards and a touchdown run with Maddix Slykhuis churning out another 72 yards. Cael Lundin finished with 123 yards on ten completions while throwing two touchdown passes. Klayton Sattler led Tea Area with 55 yards receiving and one touchdown. 

For Sturgis, quarterback Owen Cass finished with 173 yards and one touchdown pass. Hunter Harrison led Sturgis with 109 yards receiving and one touchdown catch. 


Winner 66, McCook Central-Montrose 28

WINNER -- A bruising rushing attack that ground out 607 yards of rushing powered Winner to a playoff victory on Thursday night.

Riley Shippy finished with 224 yards and three touchdowns on just five carries. Aiden Barfuss finished with 196 yards and two rushing touchdowns on 11 carries. Riley Orel, Kaden Keiser and Kaleb Osborn combined for 171 yards rushing with Keiser and Osborn both contributing rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Joey Cole finished 4-of-8 passing with 63 yards and two touchdowns. Keiser and Slade Cournoyer each caught touchdown passes for Winner.

For McCook Central-Montrose, quarterback Gavin Gordon finished 33-of-58 in passing with 384 yards and two touchdowns. Cody Miles caught 16 passes for 256 yards with two touchdown receptions. Will Cleveland snared 10 receptions and finished with 86 yards. Trevor Hanson led the Fighting Cougars with 81 yards of the ground and one rushing touchdown. 


Faulkton Area 48, Harding County-Bison 22

HARDING COUNTY -- Faulkton Area put up some enormous numbers on offense going for 526 yards in a Thursday night playoff win. 

Simon Bowar led the Trojans with 169 rushing yards on 23 carries while scoring two touchdowns. Roman Dimaria added 78 yards and one touchdown with Garrett Cramer contributing 74 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Parker Geditz also contributed 73 yards with one rushing touchdown. Geditz finished 11-of-20 through the air with 11 yards. Bowar and Dimaria combined for 88 yards receiving to lead Faulkton Area. Geditz, Dimaria and Bennett Cassens each recorded interceptions to lead the defense. 

For Harding County, quarterback Rylee Veal completed six passes for 107 yards with one touchdown pass. Veal had 44 yards rushing with Keegan Hett and Cayden Floyd combining for 57 yards rushing with each finding the endzone once. 


Wall 34, Gregory 20 

WALL -- The Wall Eagles advanced to the 9A semifinals by grinding out 338 yards of total offense to earn a playoff win Thursday night. 

Cedar Amiotte had a monstrous night rushing for 187 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns. Burk Blasius finished with 75 yards while Mason Heath added 48 yards and one rushing touchdown. Blasius finished 4-of-13 passing for 42 yards and two touchdown passes. Rylan McDonnell caught two touchdown passes and led Wall with 33 yards receiving. Defensively, Norman Livermont and Burk Blasius each had 1.5 tackles for loss with Blasius intercepting a Gregory pass. 

Rylan Peck led Gregory completing 10-of-24 passes for 257 yards and two passing touchdowns. Peck also led the Gorillas with 51 yards with Owen Hansen picking up 32 yards with one rushing touchdown. Eli Fogel caught six passes for 197 yards with one touchdown reception. Hansen grabbed four passes for 52 yards while catching one touchdown pass. 


Dell Rapids St. Mary 42, Gayville-Volin 22

GAYVILLE -- Dell Rapids St. Mary avenged an early season loss to Gayville-Volin behind a bruising ground game that netted 466 yards on the ground. 

Nic Gasper finished with 196 yards on 21 carries while rushing for three touchdowns. Ty Brown was right behind with 194 yards on 26 carries while adding a rushing touchdown. Noah Olund found the endzone three times and had 58 yards rushing.Ty Brown led the defensive effort with two tackles for loss and one interception. 

For Gayville-Volin Nate Quatier completed 15-of-25 passes for 126 yards with one touchdown pass. Quatier added 53 yards rushing with one rushing touchdown. Andrew Gustad added a rushing touchdown for the Raiders. Kyle Hirsch caught six passes for 53 yards with a touchdown reception. Gustad led the defensive effort finishing with 17 tackles on the night. 


Madison 35, Sioux Falls Christian 14

MADISON -- Despite being outgained in total offense, 327 yards to 399 Madison found a way to advance with a Thursday night playoff win. Nate Ricke was brilliant on offense completing 10-of-18 passes for 195 yards and two touchdown passes. He also led the Bulldogs in rushing with 56 yards and one touchdown run. Trey Smith finished with 37 yards on the ground while finding the endzone twice. Kadin Hanscom caught one pass for 78 yards and a touchdown. Peyton Wolf had 35 yards receiving while also adding a touchdown reception. 

Sioux Falls Christian’s Brooks Nelson completed 24-of-44 passes for 303 yards and one touchdown pass. Isaiah Young, Johny Skyberg and Nelson combined for 96 yards rushing for the Chargers. Carter VanDonge led the Chargers with eight receptions and 145 yards with two receiving touchdowns. 


Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan 21, Sioux Valley 8

VOLGA -- The Seahawks managed to find 273 yards of total offense, enough to power them into the 11B semifinals with a Thursday night playoff win. 

Koby Kayser did much of the heavy lifting, rushing 40 times for 202 yards. Kaden Klumb completed just four passes for 48 yards and two touchdown passes. Sam Hofer led Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan in receiving with two catches for 27 yards and two touchdown receptions. 

Parker Puetz led the Cossacks with 73 yards rushing on ten carries and scored the lone touchdown of the night. Puetz completed 5-of-15 passes for 71 yards. Carson Christopherson led Sioux Valley in receiving with three catches for 43 yards. 


Elk Point-Jefferson 48, Wagner 6

ELK POINT-JEFFERSON -- Elk Point-Jefferson had three athletes rush for over 100 yards while earning a playoff win Thursday night. 

Noah McDermott was the workhorse rushing twelve times for 151 yards. Ben Swatek topped the century mark with 100 yards rushing and two rushing touchdowns. Lucas Hueser added two rushing touchdowns and 111 yards on twelve carries. McDermott had an efficient night as the Huskies signal caller completing 11-of-16 pases for 116 yards and a touchdown pass. Devin Schmitz led the Huskies in receiving with four catches for 54 yards. Receiver Jacob Lichtenberg caught the lone touchdown pass. 

For Wagner, Dustin Honomichl completed 15-of-29 passes for 126 yards and one touchdown pass. Chris Nelson led Wagner with four catches for 42 yards. Glenn Cournoyer caught three passes for 29 yards with one receiving touchdown. 


Herreid/Selby Area 48, Castlewood 32

HERREID -- Herreid/Selby Area outscored Castlewood 14-6 in the second half to secure a Class 9A semifinal playoff victory on Thursday. 

Brenden Begeman paced the Wolverines with 176 rushing yards on 23 carries and two rushing touchdowns. He added 82 receiving yards on six catches and scored a touchdown reception. Tray Hettick threw for 126 yards and one touchdown pass. Hettick added 40 rushing yards on six carries and had two more scores. Trey Sayler recorded 68 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Defensively, Hettick posted 13 tackles and an interception. The Wolverines posted 428 total yards, including 302 rushing yards.

For Castlewood, Tristan Nielsen threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns. Nielsen also ahd 49 rushing yards and another score. Carson Kirwan rushed for 42 yards and had a touchdown pass, while he had 90 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions. Booker Schooley had 112 receiving yards and a touchdown reception, while Jackson Schofield also caught a touchdown pass. Kegan Tvedt had 12 tackles. The Warriors finished with 419 total yards, including 305 passing yards. 

 

De Smet 32, Warner 16

DE SMET -- De Smet held off Warner for a Class 9A quarterfinal victory on Thursday.

Kalen Garry led the Bulldogs with 252 rushing yards on 11 carries. He scored touchdowns on runs of 72, 52, 51 and 56 yards. Rett Osthus added one rushing touchdown, while Colt Wilkinson threw for 61 yards. Tory Holland added 44 receiving yards. 

Defensively, Wilkinson had a team-high 12 tackles. Garry had 10 tackles and an interception, while Osthus posted nine tackles. 

 


Canistota-Freeman 14, Ipswich 0

IPSWICH -- The Pride were able to make two second-quarter touchdowns by Tage Ortman hold up for the victory over the Tigers. Canistota-Freeman (6-4) move on to meet the Parkston Trojans next Friday in the semifinals.

Ortman collected 165 yards passing on 10 completions, while tallying a touchdown pass. Will Ortman hauled in three passes for 67 yards and a score, Isiah Robertson caught a pair of passes for 47 yards, and Tye Merrill chipped in three catches for 21 yards. On the ground the Pride were led by Robertson, who carried for 65 yards rushing. Defensively, Ethan Balvin racked up 11 tackles and an interception. Cayden Scott and Merrill each intercepted passes.

The Tigers were limited to 181 yards of offense by Canistota-Freeman. Carson Gohl churned 63 yards rushing and Ian Byers completed 12 passes for 86 yards. Carter Geditz recorded 10 tackles on the night.


Potter County 48, Hitchcock-Tulare 8

GETTYSBURG -- After falling behind 8-0 the Potter County Battlers scored 48 unanswered points to earn a playoff win Thursday night. 

Grant Luikens had command of the Potter County offense completing 17-of-34 passes for 233 yards and two touchdown passes. As a team the Battlers finished with 177 yards rushing. Cooper Logan carried the ball 13 times for 51 yards and four touchdown runs. Luikens finished with 46 yards and a rushing touchdown with Drake Bassett and Colt Wiese combined for 75 yards rushing. Ryder Falkenhagen had five receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown reception. Logan added six catches for 45 yards and one touchdown. 

Hitchcock-Tulare finished with 132 yards rushing. Jack Boomsma finished with 74 yards on the ground while Erik Salmen added 74 yards on 11 carries. Kyle Hamilton had an 80-yard kickoff return for the Patriots only score on the night.
