ABERDEEN — With four individual champions the Canton C-Hawks powered their way to the team title at Saturday’s Lee Wolf Invitational. 

Team points were not immediately available Saturday evening. Canton won the tournament followed by Aberdeen Central and Watertown. Winner Area and Miller/Highore-Harrold rounded out the top five teams. 

Landon Walker (113), Ashton Keller (132), Teague Granum (144) and Ayson Rice (150) all won championships.

Other individual titles from South Dakota athletes went to Winner Area’s Rylan Robbins (106), Watertown’s Gage Lohr (120), Watertown’s Sloan Johannsen (126), Miller/Highmore-Harrold’s Kellan Hurd (138), Aberdeen Central’s Elias Biegler (165), O’Gorman’s Keenan Sheridan (175), Watertown’s Brock Eitreim (190) and Watertown’s Micah Hach (285). 


Pierre girls edge Canton for team title at Lee Wolf Invitational

ABERDEEN — The Pierre girls edged Cantonby 6.5 points at Saturday’s Lee Wolf Invitational. 

The Governors amassed 231 points, ahead of Canton (225) and Aberdeen Central (177). Watertown (129) and Viborg-Hurley/Irene-Wakonda (83) rounded out the top five teams. 

Pierre had three champions as Sydney Uhrig (107), Lexie Hillmer (126) and Abbi Lewis (152) all won titles. 

Other individual titles were claimed by Watertown’s Olivia Anderson (100), McCook Central Montrose’s Alexis Bryant (114), Lemmon/McIntosh’s Quinn Butler (120), Aberdeen Central’s Jasmine Maas (132), Webster Area’s Brooke Grajczyk (138), Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon’s (145), Viborg-Hurley/Irene-Wakonda’s Gia Miller (165), Watertown’s Allison Konrad (185) and Canton’s Kiara King (250). 

 

Groton Area takes team wrestling title at home invitational

GROTON — Walter Zoellner, Christian Ehresmann and Korbin Kucker each won individual wrestling titles as Groton Area captured their home tournament team title on Saturday.

Groton Area totalled 190 points, ahead of Warner/Northwestern (146), Clark Willow Lake (142), Watertown JV (133) and Britton/Hecla (128).

Other individual titles were claimed by Webster Area’s Tayte Kurkowski (106), Potter County’s Nicholas Schlachter (113), Watertown JV’s Kutler Swenson (120), Sioux Valley’s Tate Steffensen (132), Huron JV’s Teagan Lien (138), Clark/Willow Lake’s Bryce Klancke (150), Warner/Northwestern’s Charlie Dulany (157), Ipswich/Bowdle’s Justin Rorhbach (175), Warner/Northwestern’s Alex Pudwill (190), Warner/Northwestern’s Preston Cavalier (215), 


Pierre wrestlers take home team title at Les Tlustos-Brookings Invitational

BROOKINGS — Tristan Spencer (138), Jaxon Ducheneaux (157), Trey Lewis (175) and Chance Carda (190) all won individual titles as the Pierre wrestling team won Saturday’s Les Tlustos-Brookings Invitational. 

The Governors wracked up 225 points, ahead of West Central (187.5) and Harrisburg (156), Brookings (156.5) and Rapid City Central (146.5) were the top-five teams. 

Other Individual champions from South Dakota were Rapid City Central’s Chase Hurd (106), Harrisburg’s Tristan Stoeser (113), West Central’s Karson Vessells (126), Sioux Falls Jefferson’s Graham Wilde (132), Dakota Valley’s Jackson Boonstra (144), Sioux Falls Jefferson’s Ayden Dooley (150), Harrisburg’s Logan O’Connor (165), West Central’s Chet Carda (215) and Brandon Valley’s Navarro Schunke (285). 

 Sturgis claims wrestling title at Belle Fourche Invitational

BELLE FOUCHE — After holding a slight lead over Rapid City Stevens on day one of the Belle Fourche Invitational, the Sturgis Scoopers dropped the hammer on Saturday.

The Scoopers finished with 341 points, well ahead of Rapid City Stevens (269.5) and Custer (172). Douglas/Rapid City Christian/New Underwood (157.5) and Sturgis JV (142).

The Scoopers dominated action Saturday and finished with eight  individual champions. Sturgis champions were Tyler Baldwin (106), Teryn Zebroski (113), Tegan Zebroski (126), Dee Daniels (132), Joseph Nadig (150), Zhoel Irion (157), Kelson Dirk (175), Aiden Werlinger (190) and Zak Juelfs (215). 

Other South Dakota champions were Custer’s Tray Weiss (120), Rapid City Stevens’ Joe Juenger (138), Rapid City Stevens’ Jacob Williams (144), Douglas/Rapid City Christian/New Underwoods’ Casen Tibbetts (165).


Lakota Tech girls edge Rapid City Stevens to win Belle Fourche wrestling title

BELLE FOURCHE — Behind two individual champions and a bunch of high finishers the Lakota Tech girls claimed the team title at Saturday’s Belle Fourche Invitational.

The Tatanka racked up 171 points, ahead of Rapid City Stevens (166) and

Spearfish (161.5). Sturgis (134) and Custer (98) rounded out the top-five teams. 

Lakota Tech’s champions were Brandy Marshall (107) and Giada Scherich (132).

Other South Dakota champions were Sturgis’ Annalee Pierson (100), Custer’s Addie Sander (114), Candace Matsuda (120), Sturgis’ Brooklyn Baird (126), Sturgis’ Madison Snyder (138), Rapid City Stevens athlete Marieda Kalahard (145), Lead Deadwood’s Trinity Zopp, Hill City’s Brittney Hanson, Custer’s Jessica Hite (185) and Todd County’s Unique Clairmont (250). 


Tea Area grabs team title at Parker Wrestling Invitational

PARKER — Behind five individual champions Tea Area ran away with the title at Saturday’s Parker Invitational wrestling tournament.

Tea Area scored 272.5 points, ahead of Parker (195.5) and Stanley County (124). West Lyon (118.5) and McCook Central/Montrose (90) rounded out the top five teams. 

Tea Area champions were Tyler Woodring (126), Austin Eimers (144), Dawson Eimers (165), Sam Werdel (175) and Gavin Van Emmerik (285). 

Other South Dakota champions were McCook Central Montrose’s Parker Randall (106), Parker’s Alek Kuchta (126), Stanley County’s Witt Myers (132), Parker’s Michael Even (138), Deuel/Deubrook Area’s Jaxon Quail (150), Parker’s Andrew Even (157), McCook Central Montrose’s Will Rotert (190) and Parker’s Levi Wieman (215).
