March 6 Class AA Girls Basketball Roundup - Mitchell holds off Spearfish, advances to state tourney

Mitchell 52, Spearfish 42

MITCHELL — Mitchell held off Spearfish in SoDak 16 girls basketball action on Friday. The Kernels will play in the Class AA state girls basketball tournament on March 12-14 in Rapid City.

Mitchell’s Addie Siemsen finished with 15 points and CeCe Morgan added 14 points. Londyn Hajek posted 12 points and Nia Talley scored eight points. 

For Spearfish, Kate Scharf scored 13 points. Sierra Sandford had 12 points and Finley Bouman scored eight points.  


Rapid City Stevens 67, Yankton 42

RAPID CITY — Three players scored in double figures to power Rapid City Stevens to a SoDak 16 girls basketball win on Friday. Stevens will play in the Class AA girls basketball tournament on March 12-14 in Rapid City.

Stevens’ Finley Love finished with 14 points, five assists and three 3-pointers. Halle Peterson posted 12 points. Marley Seumanutafa had 11 points and 12 rebounds. Hayden Thorton and Haley Falcon scored nine points apiece. Mackenzie Schreiber had seven points and three rebounds.

For Yankton, Eden Wolfram totaled 20 points, four rebounds and three 3-pointers. Nora Krajewski and Jordyn Kudera scored eight points apiece. 


Brandon Valley 52, Sturgis 24

BRANDON — Brandon Valley coasted past Sturgis in SoDak 16 girls basketball action on Friday. Brandon Valley will play in the Class AA state girls basketball tournament on March 12-14 in Rapid City.

Brandon Valley’s Gracie Salter posted 16 points, while Alyvia Padgett added 15 points. Ava Kellenberger had 12 points. 

For Sturgis, Leigha Long scored nine points.


Sioux Falls Washington 53, Sioux Falls Roosevelt 42

SIOUX FALLS — Dana Harpe’s 22-point double-double powered Sioux Falls Washington over Sioux Falls Roosevelt for a SoDak 16 girls basketball win Friday. The Warriors will play in the Class AA state girls basketball tournament on March 12-14 in Rapid City.

Harpe led Washington with 22 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks and two assists, Jersey Peterson added 10 points and four rebounds, Rylan Kennett scored nine points, four boards and four assists while Laya Berte recorded six points and three rebounds in the win.

For Roosevelt, Henlee Loof led with 19 points, Katelyn Duin added nine points and four rebounds while Aleyshka Flores Delgado had five points, four assists and three steals in the loss.
