Huron 68, Pierre 40

HURON — Huron pulled away from Pierre for a SoDak 16 boys basketball win on Saturday. Huron will play in the Class AA state boys basketball tournament on March 19-21 in Rapid City. 

Huron’s Blake Ellwein finished with 21 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Anderson Porisch added 10 points, six rebounds and three assists. Mason Jurgens totaled eight points, while Myles Ellwein scored six points. Davis Chase had five points and five boards.

For Pierre, Cooper Terwilliger had 10 points and six boards. Caiden Ahartz added nine points. Jerren Deal scored eight points, while Corde Austin had seven points. 

Tea Area 66, Spearfish 56

SPEARFISH — Three players scored in double figures as Tea Area took down Spearfish to advance to the Class AA state tournament on March 19-21 in Rapid City. 

Gavin Shawd led the Titans with 20 points, Lane Sieber added 17 points while Grifin Wiebenga had 16 points in the win.

For Spearfish, Kade Vavruska tallied 19 points, Kamren Davis netted 13 points while Bennett Kortan and Karsen Seyer each had eight points in the loss.
