REDFIELD — The Miller boys and Potter County girls claimed team titles at Thursday's Redfield Invitational.

The Rustler boys finished with 21 points, edging out Frederick Area (25) and Northwestern (28) in the team race. The Potter County girls won the team title with 21 points, finishing ahead of Frederick Area (28) and Deuel (38).

Miller’s Pierce Baumberger paced the Rustlers with a first-place finish, covering the 5,000-meter distance in 16 minutes and :38.35 seconds at Fisher Grove Country Club. Deuel’s Ricky Berndt placed second in 16:49.68, while Miller’s Alex Schumacher (16:56.66) finished third. Potter County’s Nicholas Schlachter (17:17.87) and Northwestern’s Lincoln Woodring (17:18.90) rounded out the top-five runners. 

Mobridge-Pollock’s Heidi Olson won the girls individual race in 18:48.05, edging Great Plains Lutheran’s Halle Bauer (18:55.68) for the win. Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide (19:17.92), Highmore-Harrold’s Autumn Fallis (19:39.92) and Deuel’s Jaycee Hourigan (19:45.15) rounded out the top-five finishers.
