Philip boys, Bennett County girls claim titles at Wall Eagle Qualifier

WALL — The Philip boys and Bennett County girls track teams won the team titles at the Wall Eagles Qualifier Thursday. Philip (163) finished ahead of Jones County (84) and Bennett County (82) on the boys side, while Bennett County (112) pulled away from Philip (97) and Kadoka Area (82) on the girls side.

In girls action, Bennett County’s Reagan O’Neill won the 100-meter dash (11.81), 200-meter dash (25.17), and the long jump event (19-07). Peyson O’Neill claimed the 100-meter hurdles (14.42), 300-meter hurdles (44.60), and the high jump event (5-03). Harley Harris took the triple jump event (36-00.75) for the Warriors as well. In relays, Peyson O’Neill, Reagan O’Neill, Harris and Macy Claussen won the 400-meter relay (48.99).

Wall’s Taylor McDonnell, Jocelyn Bielmaier, Karmyn Kjerstad and Honor Vernon won the sprint medley relay (4:45.86).

Philip’s Presley Terkildsen, Mesa Mangis, Mayzie McDaniel and Drew Terkildsen won the 1,600-meter relay (4:27.65) while Presley Terkildsen, McDaniel, Karlie Eisenbraun and Drew Terkildsen took the 3,200-meter relay (11:04.14).

Jones County’s BreAna Aske took the 400-meter dash (1:00.13).

Kadoka Area’s Makaylan Bonenberger won the 800-meter (2:36.16) and 1,600-meter run (5:46.46). Landyn Koehn took the discus throw (121-04) and the javelin toss (114-06).

Newell’s Lucille Ahart won the girls 3,200-meter race (13:09.33).

Faith’s Tandee Nelson won the pole vault competition (8-01).

In boys action, Philip’s David McKinley won the 400-meter dash (53.02), Baylor Burns took the 3,200-meter race (10:34.63), Evan Kroetch took the top spot in the shot put event (47-01), while TeShaun Williams won the triple jump (37.05.25). In relays, Kaleb VanDusseldorp, Latham Gabriel, Williams and Burns won the sprint medley relay (4:02.34). Teagan Gropper, Owen Terkildsen, Beckham Terkildsen and Tyce Gropper won the 400-meter relay (46.50) and the 800-meter relay (1:36.12). Burns, McKinley, Jack Peterson and Trey Larson took the 3,200-meter relay as well.

Bennett County’s Rush O’Neill took the 100-meter dash (11.06), 200-meter dash (22.28), high jump (6-04), and long jump events (23-05.50). Caysen Soderlin won the discus throw as well (153-03).

Wall’s Tanner Volmer won the 110-meter hurdles (15.97 and the 300-meter hurdles (40.45).

Jones County’s Adrik Schoon won the 800-meter race (2:03.96). Thad Kierl, Bryer Kinsley, Asa Best and Adrik Schoon took the top spot in the 1,600-meter relay as well.

New Underwood’s Gage Huether took the 1,600-meter race (5:31.26).

Faith’s Cooper Mackaben won the javelin throw (120-08).

Lyman’s Aksel Ehlers took the top spot in the pole vault competition (10-09) as well.
