RAPID CITY — Pierre captured its fourth straight girls wrestling state championship on Saturday at the Monument Arena. 

The Governors totaled 137.5 points, finishing ahead of second-place Canton (107) and third-place Harrisburg (95). 

Pierre’s Dani Ringstmeyer (126 pounds) and Abbigail Lewis (152) captured individual state championships for the Governors. 

Canton’s Finley Evjen (120) was the lone individual state champ for the C-Hawks. 

In the 145-pound weight class, Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon’s Peyton Hellmann won her fifth straight state championship, the only South Dakota girls wrestler to accomplish that feat. Hellmann defeated Pierre’s Ireland Templeton by a 15-4 major decision in the state championship match.
