Pierre prevails to win Mid-Dakota Bride of the Monster wresting tournament

PRESHO — After dropping to fifth in last week’s girls rankings the Pierre girls sent a message to the rest of South Dakota by winning the Mid-Dakota Bride of the Monster wrestling tournament in Presho on Saturday. 

The Governors amassed 205 points, ahead of Canton (184) and Harrisburg (126). Custer (113.5) and Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon (112) rounded out the top-five teams. 

The Pierre girls were fueled by championships from Dani Ringstmeyer (126), Lexie Hillmer (132) and Abbigail Lewis (152). 

Other titles went to Groton Area’s Liza Krueger (100), Lakota Tech’s Brandy Marshall (107), Sisseton’s Vi Anderson (114), Canton’s Finley Evjen (120), Sioux Valley’s Summer Guthmiller (138), Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon’s Peyton Hellmann (145), Harrisburg’s Rhiannen Heimdal (165), Custer’s Jessica Hite (185) and Canton’s Natalia Long (250). 

Hellmann was named the tournament’s outstanding wrestler.
