Pine Ridge’s Marvin Richard III continues to climb up South Dakota's all-time boys basketball scoring list.

Richard III netted 30 points in a 70-56 win over Class A No. 5 Mahpiya Luta on Jan. 27, moving into No. 10 on the South Dakota's all-time boys basketball scoring list. Richard III currently has 2,388 career points. 

He needs 15 points to move past Cresbard’s Bob Swanhorst (2,402) for No. 9 on the all-time scoring list. White River’s Louie Krogman is South Dakota’s all-time boys basketball scoring leader with 3,521 career points. 

A 6-foot-1 all-state guard, Richard III is averaging 29.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 4.8 steals per game. He will play college basketball at Division I South Dakota next season.
