Piper Hanson powers Burke girls at Armour Last Chance Meet

ARMOUR — Burke’s Piper Hanson powered a strong showing for the Cougars at Thursday’s Last Chance Region Meet. 

Hanson won the 100-meter hurdles (:15.05), ahead of teammates Addi Hood (:16.68) and Daytona Paris (:16.98). Hanson also won the 300-meter hurdles (:47.01), ahead of Hood (:48.47). Hanson also anchored the winning 800-meter relay (1:47.95) and placed third in the high jump (4-8). 

Burke’s Braelyn Duerfeldt won the 100-meter dash (:13.40) and placed second in the 200-meter dash (:27.74). Burke’s Breckynn Pistulka won the 200-meter dash (:27.20). 


Burke’s Paige Bull won the discus (133-3) and placed fourth in the shot put (33-2.75). 

Burke’s Emily Diekmann won the high jump (5-0), ahead of Paris (4-8) and Hanson (4-8). Paris won the triple jump with a leap of 30-5.5. 

Burke’s Kailee Frank won the 1,600-meter run (5:33.26). Burke’s Sophia Bauld won the 3,200-meter run (13:00.89) and placed second in the 1,600-meter run (5:53.14). The Burke girls also won the 400-meter relay (:52.98). 

Corsica-Stickney’s Braylee Bordewyk won the 400-meter dash (1:00.46) and 800-meter run (2:27.99). 

Wessington Springs’ Avery Orth won the shot put (38-0). Gregory’s Dani VanDerWerff won the javelin (105-11). Avon’s Courtney Sees won the long jump (16-2.75). 

The Gregory girls won the 1,600-meter relay (4:16.26). The Wessington Springs girls won the 3,200-meter relay (10:36.03) and sprint medley relay (4:34.40). 

In boys action, Corsica-Stickney’s Waylon Bolle won the 100-meter dash (:11.66) and ran the anchor leg on the winning 400-meter relay (:45.27). 

Gregory’s Pierce Stukel won the 400-meter dash (:53.44) and was on the winning 1,600-meter relay (3:35.86). 

Gregory’s Luke Barreto won the 1,600-meter run (4:45.30) and 3,200-meter run (11:58.99) 

Burke’s Bryce Bartling won the 110-meter hurdles (:18.89) and teammate Reed Benter won the 300-meter hurdles (:43.32).

Avon’s Al Gunter was a double winner in the shot put (44-10.5) and discus (128-8). 

Gregory’s Trey Murray won the javelin (149-1), followed by teammates Rane Kenzy (143-7) and Rylan Peck (143-0). 

Burke’s Iker Diaz Montilla won the high jump (6-4), ahead of Gregory’s Daniel Mitchell (6-2). Diaz Montilla also won the triple jump (42-4.25). 

Gregory’s Jhett Eklund won the long jump (19-3.75) and placed second in the triple jump (40-8). 

ACDC’s Sabas DeHaan won the 200-meter dash (:24.27). Wessington Springs’ Karter Mebius won the 800-meter run (2:01.64).

The Gregory boys won the 800-meter relay (1:33.72). The TDA boys won the 3,200-meter relay (9:10.66). The Colome boys won the sprint medley relay (3:53.06).
