Red Cloud girls earn top-3 finishes at home invitational

PINE RIDGE — The Red Cloud girls and Lakota Tech boys shined at Thursday’s Red Cloud Invitational. 

The Crusader girls had four of the top-12 finishers, including the top three runners. Lakota Tech, which was the lone team in the team standings, finished with 15 points to win the title. 

Red Cloud’s Jade Ecoffey won the girls individual race, covering the 5,000-meter distance in 20 minutes and :45.58 seconds. Ashlan Blout (21:24.53) and Rarity Cournoyer (23:11.18) won second and third, respectively, for the Crusaders. Lakota Tech’s Taylor Byerley (23:44.98) and Red Cloud’s Esperanza Rama (27:06.52) rounded out the top-five finishers. 

Bennett County’s Tyce Gropper won the girls individual race in 20:54.25, while Red Cloud’s Tasunke West (21:44.73) placed second. Lakota Tech’s Kaden Steele (22:43.76), Lakota Tech’s Kolt Fox (22:47.68) and Todd County’s Jace Allen (22:58.55) rounded out the top-five runners.
