The road to the South Dakota state cross-country meet starts this week.

Class A and Class B runners will compete in region meets this week. The state meet is Oct. 23 at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls. 

In Class A, the top-20 individual finishers and up to six runners from top-three teams advance to state. In Class B, the top-20 individual finishers and up to five runners from top-three teams advance to state. 

Here’s a look at this week’s region sites, dates and participating teams: 

Class A

Region 1: Thursday at Webster Municipal Golf Course. 

Participating teams: Clark/Willow Lake, Dakota Hills, Deuel, Florence/Henry, Great Plains Lutheran, Groton Area, Hamlin, Milbank, Redfield, Sisseton, Tiospa Zina, Tri-State, Webster Area. 

Region 2: Thursday at Madison Golf & Country Club. 

Participating teams: Baltic, Dell Rapids, Deubrook Area, Elkton-Lake Benton, Flandreau, Flandreau Indian, Garretson, Madison, McCook Central/Montrose, Sioux Valley, Tri-Valley, West Central.

Region 3: Thursday at The Bridges at Beresford Golf. 

Participating teams: Andes Central/Dakota Christian, Beresford, Bon Homme, Canton, Dakota Valley, Elk Point-Jefferson, Ethan/Parkston, Hanson, Lennox, Parker, Tea Area, Vermillion, Wagner.

Region 4: Thursday at Chamberlain Country Club. 

Participating teams: Chamberlain, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, Crow Creek, McLaughlin, Mobridge-Pollock, Mount Vernon/Plankinton, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, St. Francis, Stanley County, Todd County, Winner.

Region 5: Thursday at Red Cloud High School.

Participating teams: Belle Fourche, Bennett County, Custer, Dupree, Hill City, Hot Springs, Lakota Tech, Lead-Deadwood, Little Wound, Pine Ridge, Rapid City Christian, Red Cloud, St. Thomas More. 

Class B

Region 1: Thursday at Webster Municipal Golf Course.

Participating teams: Aberdeen Christian, Aberdeen Roncalli, Britton-Hecla, Castlewood, Estelline/Hendricks, Frederick Area, Hitchcock-Tulare, Iroquois/Doland, James Valley Christian, Langford Area, Northwestern, Warner, Waverly-South Shore. 

Region 2: Wednesday at Rocky Run Golf Course in Dell Rapids.

Participating teams: Alcester-Hudson, Arlington, Canistota, Centerville, Chester Area, Colman-Egan, De Smet, Dell Rapids St. Mary, Gayville-Volin, Howard, Irene-Wakonda, McCrossan, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland, Sioux Falls Lutheran, Viborg-Hurley.

Region 3: Wednesday at Valley View Golf Course in Freeman. 

Participating teams: Avon, Bridgewater-Emery, Corsica-Stickney, Freeman, Freeman Academy/Marion, Gregory, Kimball/White Lake, Marty, Menno, Mitchell Christian, Platte-Geddes, Scotland, Tripp-Delmont/Armour. 

Region 4: Thursday at Gettysburg Country Club.

Participating teams: Faulkton Area, Herreid/Selby Area, Highmore-Harrold, Ipswich, Leola, Lower Brule, Lyman, McIntosh, Miller, North Central, Potter County, Sully Buttes, Sunshine Bible Academy, Timber Lake, Wakpala, Wessington Springs, Wolsey-Wessington.

Region 5: Friday at Lake Waggoner Golf Course in Philip. 

Participating teams: Bison, Black Hills Christian Academy, Crazy Horse, Faith, Harding County, Jones County, Kadoka Area, Lemmon, New Underwood, Newell, Oelrichs, Philip, Takini, Tiospaye Topa, Wall, White River.
