Girls basketball 

Hanson 64, Wolsey-Wessington 47

MITCHELL — Hanson outscored Wolsey-Wessington 21-4 in the fourth quarter to secure a girls basketball win at Saturday’s Hanson Classic. 

Annalyse Weber finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. Paige Endorf added 14 points, while Karlie Goergen scored nine points. Alyssa Moschell logged seven points and eight rebounds. Vanessa Doyle and Eliza Oltmanns scored six points apiece. Kate Haiar had six rebounds. 

Wolsey-Wessington’s Faith Nelson and Mya Boomsma scored 10 points apiece. Leah Williams recorded nine points, five rebounds and four assists. Lainey Uttecht added eight points, seven assists and five rebounds. 


Winner 55, Andes Central/Dakota Christian 40

MITCHELL — Bella Swedlund and Kelsey Sachtjen combined for 34 points to lift Winner to a girls basketball win at Saturday’s Hanson Classic. 

Swedlund finished with 23 points and five rebounds, while Sachtjen added 11 points and six rebounds. Jenna Hammerbeck logged six points, while Josey Kludt had five points. Ellie Brozik dished out five assists. 

ACDC’s Josie Brouwer finished with 19 points, while Allison Muckey had 15 points and seven rebounds. 


Bridgewater-Emery 60, Highmore-Harrold 45

MITCHELL — Four players scored in double figures to power Bridgewater-Emery to a girls basketball win at Saturday’s Hanson Classic. 

Julia Weber led the Huskies with 19 points, six assists and five rebounds. Chloe Schmitt recorded 13 points, six assists and five rebounds. Casey Meyer and Morgan Uptagrafft scored 10 points apiece. Taylor Schallenkamp added eight points. 

Highmore-Harrold’s Letha Jessen posted 12 points and eight rebounds. Courtney Moser tossed in 10 points. Maddie Knox logged seven points, nine rebounds and six assists. Grace Knox had eight points and nine rebounds. 


Lennox 44, Deubrook Area 43

MITCHELL — Lennox rallied from a 14-point deficit for a one-point win over Deubrook Area at Saturday’s Hanson Classic. 

Ryan Hanssen scored a team-high 13 points, while Andie Peters had 11 points. Drew Kuyper finished with nine points and 10 rebounds. 

Deubrook Area’s Emma Scheffield scored 10 points. Emma Vandermeer finished with nine points and four assists. Skyla Petersen finished with seven points and six rebounds. Carley Landmark scored six points.


Viborg-Hurley 49, Ethan 38

MITCHELL — Denae Mach and Estelle Lee combined for 29 points to push Viborg-Hurley past Ethan in a girls basketball game at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

Mach finished with 19 points, while Lee scored 10 points. Delana Mach and Coral Mason each tallied seven points. Shelby Lyons dished out five assists.

Ethan’s Ava Lingemann scored 18 points, five rebounds, and four assists, while Hannah Bartscher added nine points and eight rebounds.


Lakota Tech 43, Florence/Henry 41

MITCHELL — Lakota Tech edged Florence/Henry in a girls basketball game at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

Tawney Rodriguez finished with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Jodene Hunter scored 10 points. Shayla Bravo tallied nine points and Moriah Morisette grabbed eight rebounds.

For the Falcons, Caylin Kelly recorded a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Trinity Watson scored 11 points. Aubrie Hartley added eight points.


Parkston 42, St. Thomas More 38

MITCHELL — Parkston edged Class A No. 2 St. Thomas More in a girls basketball game at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

Parkston’s Abby Hohn recorded 21 points, while Allison Ziebart tallied seven points and eight rebounds. Faith Oakley added six points

STM’s Reese Ross recorded 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Mairin Duffy added 11 points.


Wagner 75, West Central 47

MITCHELL — Emma Yost and Shalayne Nagel combined for 47 points as Class A No. 4 Wagner pulled away from Class A No. 3 West Central in a girls basketball game at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

Yost finished with 25 points and eight assists, while Nagel scored 22 points and 10 rebounds. Macy Koupal tallied 11 points, while Ashlyn Koupal grabbed 11 boards. Eve Zephier and Lydia Yost each contributed six points.

The Trojans were led by Tabor Teel with 13 points and seven boards, while Rylee Haldeman tallied eight points and six assists. Josslin Jarding and Cambell Fischer each scored six points.


Corsica-Stickney 58, Flandreau 47

MITCHELL — Class B No.2 Corsica-Stickney used a 16-8 third quarter to pull away from and upset Class A No. 1 Flandreau in a girls basketball game at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

Rachel Gerlach scored a game-high 17 points, while Casey Tolsman tallied 16 points. Avery Broughton stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks, while Payton DeLange added eight points and six rebounds. Morgan Clites dished out nine assists.

For the Fliers, Lizzie Pavlis and Claire Sheppard finished with 15 points apiece, while Sheppard also grabbed 10 rebounds. Maria Parsley added 11 points and seven boards.


Chamberlain 58, Bon Homme 47

TYNDALL — Chamberlain picked up a girls basketball win over Bon Homme on Saturday.

Mya Knippling and Abby Hutmacher each scored 14 points for the Cubs.

For the Cavaliers, Jaden Kortan scored 17 points and six rebounds, while Jurni Vavruska recorded nine points and four assists. Olivia Bares grabbed 10 rebounds and had four steals.


Dell Rapids St. Mary 55, Adrian-Ellsworth, Minn. 25

COLMAN — Dell Rapids St. Mary had three players score in double-figures as they picked up a boys basketball win over Adrian-Ellsworth, Minn. at the Dakota Valley Conference Classic on Saturday.

For the Cardinals, Mandala Hanson scored 16 points and five steals, while Ella Griffin tallied 15 points. Addyson Gilbert added 10 points. 


Colman-Egan 63, Pipestone Area, Minn. 54

COLMAN — Mackenzie Hemmer’s big performance helped lead Colman-Egan to a girls basketball win over Pipestone Area, Minn. at the Dakota Valley Conference Classic on Saturday.

Hemmer finished with 36 points and 12 rebounds, while Hailey Larson tallied 11 points.

Lanie Mousel dished out four assists. 


Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley, Minn., 55, Elkton-Lake Benton 42

COLMAN — Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley, Minn. picked up a girls basketball win over Elkton-Lake Benton at the Dakota Valley Conference Classic on Saturday.

The Elks were led by Rachael Krog with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Tevan Erickson scored 10 points and four steals. Kylie Ramlo added nine points and 14 rebounds.

Brandon Valley 54, Douglas 22

BRANDON — Brandon Valley used a 27-0 first quarter to pull away from Douglas in a girls basketball game on Saturday.

Hilary Behrens finished with 19 points, while Tessa Bowar scored 13 points. Kylie Foss and Sidney Thue each tallied six points.

For Douglas, Keana Walton scored 14 points.


Boys basketball 

Hitchcock-Tulare 64, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 54

WOLSEY — Four players scored in double-figures as Hitchcock-Tulare picked up a boys basketball win over Sanborn Central/Woonsocket in the opening round of the 281 Conference Tournament on Saturday.

Jackson Maynard finished with 17 points, while Kyle Hamilton scored 13 points. TJ Salmen and Erik Salmen each tallied 11 points and Zach Gilbert added eight points.

For SCW, Tryce Slykhuis scored a game-high 24 points, while Brady Larson tallied nine points and eight rebounds and Toby Kneen added eight points.


Wessington Springs 73, Iroquois/Doland 52

WOLSEY — Mason Schelske and Cade Mohling combined for 54 points as Wessington Springs picked up a boys basketball win over Iroquois/Doland in the opening round of the 281 Conference Tournament on Saturday.

Schelske scored 28 points and 10 rebounds, while Mohling recorded 26 points and four assists. Brock Krueger added five points and five assists.

For Iroquois/Doland, Diego Prieto scored 14 points and four assists, while Logan Peskey recorded 13 points and eight rebounds. Tristan Dykstra added 12 points and eight rebounds.


James Valley Christian 63, Highmore-Harrold 40

WOLSEY — James Valley Christian had three players score in double-figures as they earned a boys basketball win over Highmore-Harrold in the opening round of the 281 Conference Tournament on Saturday.

Landon Wallman scored 16 points and nine rebounds, while Landon Wager tallied 14 points. Dax Frandsen recorded 10 points and Jerrad Wallman grabbed nine rebounds.

For the Pirates, Treyton Knox scored nine points and six rebounds, while Peyton McDonnell recorded eight points. Carter LaMont added seven points.


Wolsey-Wessington 68, Sunshine Bible Academy 14

WOLSEY — Wolsey-Wessington cruised past Sunshine Bible Academy for a boys basketball win in the opening round of the 281 Conference Tournament on Saturday.

Payson Gohn finished with 12 points and five rebounds, while Jemetrius Scott recorded 11 points. Blaze Herdman added 10 points and five assists.

For SBA, Daniel Gerbracht scored six points and five rebounds.


Burke 63, Gayville-Volin 42

BURKE — Burke used a 25-8 third quarter to race past Gayville-Volin for a boys basketball win on Saturday.

Ben Witt scored 26 points, while Bryce Frank recorded 18 points, 12 assists, and eight rebounds. Reed Benter added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

For Gayville-Volin, Andrew Gustad scored 15 points and Spencer Karstens 13 points.


Belle Fourche 53, Northwestern 42

REDFIELD — Belle Fourche had three players score in double-figures as they picked up a boys basketball win over Northwestern at the Redfield Classic on Saturday.

Aiden Griffin scored 15 points, while Anthony Budmayr and Ryker Audiss each tallied 13 points.

For Northwestern, Quintin Fischbach scored 15 points, while Christopher Toennies added six points.

REDFIELD — Little Wound edged Florence/Henry in a boys basketball game at the Redfield Classic on Saturday.

Dylan Cuny scored 16 points, while Andres Dubray recorded 14 points. Wakiyan Cuny tallied 12 points and Trey Yellow Boy added 10 points.

REDFIELD — Redfield picked up a boys basketball win over Waverly-South Shore at the Redfield Classic on Saturday.

Jerron Haider recorded 15 points, while Peyton Osborn scored 14 points and five assists. Mitchell Mack added 12 points, while Justin Ratigan grabbed 15 rebounds.

For the Coyotes, Carter Comes scored 14 points, while Cooper Schmit tallied 12 points and Troy Kneeland added 11 points.

REDFIELD — Four players scored in double-figures as Faulkton Area edged Class B No. 5 Timber Lake in a boys basketball game at the Redfield Classic on Saturday.

Hunter Niederbaumer scored 17 points, while Simon Bowar and Layne Cotton each tallied 16 points. Bennett Cassens added 11 points.

For the Panthers, Hank Kraft scored a game-high 22 points, while Chazz Gabe recorded 14 points. Brandt Ducheneaux added nine points.


Groton Area 68, Deubrook Area 42

REDFIELD — Groton Area raced past Deubrook Area for a boys basketball win at the Redfield Classic on Saturday.

Lane Tietz scored a game-high 19 points while Jayden Zak recorded 18 points, and Wyatt Hearnen tallied 12 points. Tate Larson and Jacob Zak added eight and seven points, respectively.

For the Dolphins, Nicholas Bowne scored 12 points and John Jorenby added 9 points.
