LENNOX — The Sioux Falls Christian cross-country team won the boys and girls team titles at the Lennox Invite on Thursday.

The Chargers won the girls team title with a score of 11, ahead of Chamberlain (53) and Vermillion (70). West Central (86) and Lennox (96) rounded out the top-five.

Individually, Sioux Falls Christian’s Ellie Maddox (18:53.46), Natalie Smith (18:57.78), and Anna Vyn (19:07.94) placed first, second, and third, respectively. Chamberlain’s Kinsey Evans (19:09.41) and Sioux Falls Christian’s Jerica Glasser (19:13.03) finished fourth and fifth to round out the top-five.

On the boys side, Sioux Falls Christian won the team award with a score of 38, followed by Dakota Valley (58), Milbank (72), Vermillion (76), and Lennox (85).

Individually, Elk Point-Jefferson’s Joe Cross won the boys title with a time of 16:08.92, ahead of Milbank’s Payton Brown (16:28.86). Tri-State’s Kaleb Foltz (16:28.95) and Beresford’s Andrew Atwood (16:29.28) placed third and fourth, while Sioux Falls Christian’s Bennett Wassenaar (16:38.04) rounded out the top-five.


Deuel captures boys, girls team awards at Sisseton Invite

SISSETON — The Deuel boys and girls cross-country teams won the team awards at the Sisseton Invite on Thursday.

The Deuel girls finished with a score of 11, ahead of Great Plains Lutheran (12) and Groton Area (24). The Deuel boys tallied a score of 6, ahead of Great Plains Lutheran (18), Groton Area (28), and Tiospa Zina (32).

Individually, Great Plains Lutheran’s Halle Bauer won the girls title with a time of 19:59.94, followed by Deuel’s Jaycee Hourigan (20:34.28). Waubay/Summit’s Madison Zirbel finished third with a time of 20:54.24, while Deuel’s Isabella Imm (22:28.89) and Great Plains Lutheran’s Taylor Bendix (23:01.14) rounded out the top-five.

On the boys side, Deuel’s Ricky Berndt won the individual award with a time of 18:15.03, while Waubay/Summit’s Jayven Maag placed second with a time of 19:35.97. Deuel’s Caden Hourigan (20:09.35) and Matthew Buyert (20:28.88) finished third and fourth, while Great Plains Lutheran’s Thad Kratz (20:46.30) rounded out the top-five finishers.


Brandon Valley wins boys, girls team team titles at Watoma Invite

WATERTOWN — The Brandon Valley boys and girls cross-country teams captured the team titles at the Watoma Invite in Watertown on Thursday.

The Brandon Valley girls finished with a score of 34, while Harrisburg totaled 60 points for second place. O’Gorman (73), Aberdeen Central (113), and Watertown (114) rounded out the top-five.

Individually, O’Gorman’s Libby Castelli won the title with a time of 17:59.07. O’Gorman’s Ruth Pardy finished second with a time of 18:37.69, while Brandon Valley’s Addison Scholten (18:46.28) and Reagan Askdal (19:39.31) finished third and fourth, respectively. Harrisburg’s Presli White (19:53.82) rounded out the top-five runners.

On the boys side, Brandon Valley won the team title with a score of 74, ahead of Sioux Falls Roosevelt (94) and Pierre (101). Sioux Falls Jefferson (102) and Aberdeen Central (111) rounded out the top five.

Harrisburg’s Cashton Johnson won individual honors with a time of 16:06.54, followed by Pierre’s Jared Lutmer (16:26.86), who finished second. O’Gorman’s Jack Castelli placed third with a time of 17:02.87, while Sioux Falls Jefferson’s Kieren Weigelt (17:07.30) and Jack Wagoner (17:08.95) rounded out the top-five finishers.  


Natrona County (Wyo.) wins individual awards at Sturgis Invite

STURGIS — Natrona County’s Ally Wheeler and Tristan Enders took home the individual titles at the Sturgis Invite on Thursday.

Wheeler won the girls title with a time of 20:35.94, ahead of Douglas’ Kira Ubence (20:38.84), who finished second. Lead-Deadwood’s Hallie Person (20:42.99) and Natrona County’s Ashley Gross (21:14.31) placed third and fourth, while Kelly Walsh’s (Wyo.) Bethany Strand (21:17.95) rounded out the top-five.

On the boys side, Enders won the title with a time of 16:33.75. Natrona County’s Jackson Dutcher (16:42.47) placed second, while Bowman County’s (N.D.) Austin Wanner (17:02.36) finished in third place. Belle Fourche’s Lane Krautschun (17:23.66) finished fourth, while Bowman County’s Taylor Wanner (17:26.76) rounded out the top-five runners.

Natrona County also won the girls team title with a score of 23, ahead of Sturgis Brown (76), Custer (104), Bowman County (125), and Campbell County (Wyo.) (125).

On the boys side, Bowman County won the team title with a score of 49, followed by Natrona County (55), Sturgis Brown (81), Kelly Walsh (113), and Belle Fourche (176).
