SIOUX FALLS — Cross country runners from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin gathered Saturday for the Nike Cross Nationals, Heartland Regional at the Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls.

The top finisher for South Dakota was Rapid City Stevens senior Simeon Birnbaum. The Oregon bound athlete covered the 5000-meter course in 14:39.2. The top female finisher from South Dakota was Sioux Falls Lincoln senior, Ali Bainbridge.
