The 2024 high school football season is just around the corner and many soon-to-be seniors have taken to social media to announce their future plans.

Four Sioux Falls-area athletes will be playing for the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, while another has announced his commitment to the University of South Dakota Coyotes.

The four future Jackrabbits are Sioux Falls Christian’s Lincoln Semchenko, Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Sullivan Schlimgen, Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Luke Krempges and Brandon Valley’s Landon Dulaney. Canton’s Cain Wallner recently committed to USD.

Lincoln Semchenko (Sioux Falls Christian) - South Dakota State

Semchenko, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive lineman is the No. 3 ranked player in the 2025 South Dakota football class, according to Prep RedZone Dakotas. He’s received offers from Northern Iowa, North Dakota, St. Thomas, Lindenwood, and South Dakota. Semchenko tallied 67 pancake blocks and allowed zero sacks as a junior for the Chargers. He was an all-state offensive lineman last season.

Sullivan Schlimgen (Sioux Falls O’Gorman) - South Dakota State

The 6-foot-1, 220 pound all-state linebacker tallied 99 tackles (12.5 tackles for loss) and six pass break-ups, setting the school record for single-season tackles as a junior for the Knights. He’s racked up more than 160 career tackles (15 tackles for loss) and one interception. Schlimgen held offers from Texas Tech, Army, Air Force, Northern Iowa, North Dakota State, South Dakota, among others.

Luke Krempges (Sioux Falls Lincoln) - South Dakota State

Krempges, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound defensive lineman earned 11AAA all-state honors, recording 29 tackles (4 tackles for loss) and four sacks for the state champion Patriots. Held offers from the University of Sioux Falls, Minnesota State-Mankato, and Augustana.

Landon Dulaney (Brandon Valley) - South Dakota State

Dulaney, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound receiver, spurned offers from other Missouri Valley Football Conference schools and FBS Boise State to play for the Jacks. The all-state speedster hauled in 34 catches for 633 yards/7 touchdowns last season. He added two rushing touchdowns, one punt return for a score and kickoff return for a touchdown.

Cain Wallner (Canton) - South Dakota

A 6-foot-3, 225-pound running back/linebacker, Wallner held Division I scholarship offers from Army, North Dakota State University and the University of North Dakota. On defense, he racked up 80 tackles (9 tackles for loss), 5.5 sacks and an interception. He added 123 carries for 1,070 rushing yards, while hauling in 27 receptions for 397 yards and 18 total touchdowns. He posted 1,759 all-purpose yards during his junior season.

The 2025 South Dakota high school recruiting class is not done yet with highly sought after players.

According to Prep RedZone Dakotas, three of the top-five ranked players in this upcoming class have yet to announce their decision, including the No. 1 ranked player in the state, Winner’s Shawn Hammerbeck, the No. 2 ranked player, Watertown’s Micah Hach, and the No. 5 ranked player, Harrisburg’s Sam Knuth.
