Folks in the communities of Tiospa Zina and Winnebago Nebraska have got to be lathered up for this Friday's matchup, TZ at BAGO. These two teams reached the spring championship of All-Nations last year with the Wambdi winning.

Some faces have changed but the results haven't. Both teams are undefeated, rock-solid, well coached and eager to face each other. Add to that both teams are coming off not playing last week so look for some HITS to set the tone.

  • Tiospa Zina - The Wambdi looked good in a 46-6 season-opening win over Little Wound. Due to graduation, TZ lost Jayden Freyer, Elijah Kowalzek (scored a TD for Minnesota-Morris last week) but don't fret that explosive offense have some skill guys and TUFF guys ready to battle.

  • Winnebago – Spoke with Winnebago coach Adam James prior to the season and he says his guys were motivated all summer. The team looked good in their season-opening shutout of Cheyenne-Eagle Butte. Winnebago has some big guys in the trenches where this battle will be won.

 Other matchups:

Todd County (2-0) @ Little Wound (1-1)

  • Todd County – Bob Kornely's boys started slow in their 46-0 opening win over Crow Creek. Charles Long has emerged as a solid QB for the Falcons who have a skill guy (Sayge Yellow Eagle) that averages 39 yards per carry and who is a TD Machine. Tristan Rogers is as TUFF a kid as you will find in the league and a tackling machine.

  • Little Wound – QB Trevin Vasquez, in his first game back rushed for 3 TDs and threw for another. Wakiyan Cuny had 147 yards and a TD against Tiospa Zina and had another TD last week. Keep an eye out for freshman wide receiver Daelan LeBeaux, who had a 64-yard TD catch last week and a fumble recovery that sealed the game in the final minute.

  • Red Cloud vs. Pine Ridge: The Art Vitalis-coached Crusaders look like an explosive contender in the conference. Sam Bravo's Thorpes looked good in their only game vs. Oelrichs and you know the guys will emulate Bravo's toughness.

  • McLaughlin vs. Crow Creek: Fairly close in proximity, it's always fun when these two passionate sports bases get together. McLaughlin beat C-EB 48-36 and C-EB scored 30 in a loss to a good Little Wound team. For McLaughlin, keep an eye on skill guys Jeremiah Longman, Rayden Bullhead, Renzo Bullhead and Levyn White Bull

  • Crazy Horse vs. Takini: The Chiefs finally saw action last week and responded with 54-0 win over Oelrichs. Crazy Horse is going to make some noise in fall and winter sports this season. Takini is very young and has been struggling to get enough numbers to compete.

  • Cheyenne-Eagle Butte vs. Standing Rock – Should be another hotly contested contest. Both teams improved by leaps and bounds from games one and two.

Note: The All-Nations week-to-week schedule remains fluid as schools contend with health portocals.
