The 2023 South Dakota high school football season resumed last week and top performances continued to roll in. 

Here are this week’s top performers across South Dakota for football games on Sept. 28-30.

  • Hanson’s Weston Kayser scored in a variety of ways in a 73-23 win over Garretson. The junior running back scored on a 52-yard touchdown run, an 82-yard kickoff return, a 10-yard interception and hauled in a 41-yard touchdown pass from Jayce Slaba. 
  • Hanson’s Brock Tuttle tallied 115 rushing yards and three touchdowns against Garretson. 
  • Colome’s Eli Vobr racked up six total touchdowns and 352 rushing yards in a 46-16 win over Sunshine Bible. Vobr rushed for five touchdowns, while completing three passes for 64 yards and another score. 
  • Canistota’s Tage Ortman racked up 315 total yards and four total touchdowns in a 28-20 win over Deubrook Area. Ortman finished with 113 rushing yards on 25 carries and scored two touchdowns. He completed 15 of 23 passes for 202 yards and threw two more touchdown passes. 
  • Canistota’s Ty Doblar hauled in eight catches for 123 yards and caught two touchdowns. 

  • Warner’s Hunter Cramer rushed 22 times for 149 yards and completed 11 of 18 passes for 192 yards in a 22-13 win over Hamlin. Cramer threw two touchdowns, while rushing for another score. 
  • Parkston’s Brayden Jervik rushed for 142 yards on six carries and scored three touchdowns in a 50-0 win over Gregory.
  • Parkston’s Luke Bormann added five carries for 139 yards and two touchdowns against the Gorillas. 
  • Britton-Hecla's Jaxon Zuehlke completed 13 of 15 passes for 307 yards and threw six touchdowns in a win over Ipswich. He added 33 rushing yards and another score. 
  • Britton-Hecla's Daniel Person hauled in six catches for 186 yards and hauled in three touchdowns against Ipswich. He added two interceptions. 
  • Sioux Falls Christian’s Lincoln Prins tossed seven passing touchdowns in a 60-14 win over Milbank. Prins completed 15 of 24 passes for 224 yards and threw four passing touchdowns to Cole Snyder. 

  • Chamberlain’s Cruz Soulek accounted for three touchdowns in a 21-18 win over Vermillion. Soulek completed 8 of 12 passes for 155 yards and threw two passing touchdowns, while rushing for 181 yards and another score. 
  • Dell Rapids’ Mason Stubbe rushed for 101 yards on 12 carries and scored three touchdowns in a 38-14 win over Beresford. 
  • Canton’s Cain Wallner and Canaan McCracken both rushed for more than 200 yards to power a 30-14 win over Madison. Wallner had 204 rushing yards on 19 carries and scored a touchdown. McCracken racked up 201 rushing yards on 30 carries and scored three touchdowns.
  • Faulkton Area's Layton Cotton completed 7 of 10 passes for 146 yards and threw four touchdowns in a 54-0 win over Faith. 
  • De Smet’s Britt Carlson finished with 119 yards passing and two touchdowns in a 56-6 win over Arlington. He added 85 rushing yards and scored two more scores. 
  • Burke’s Gentry Bartling rushed for 171 yards on eight carries and scored four touchdowns in a 77-22 win over Irene-Wakonda.
  • Burke’s Kaleb Schonebaum added 103 rushing yards on eight carries and scored three touchdowns.
  • Stanley County’s Colton Brady rushed for 164 yards on 18 carries and scored three touchdowns in a 44-7 win over Timber Lake.

  • Parker’s Landon Wieman completed 10 of 20 passes for 214 yards and threw three touchdowns in a 28-6 win over Redfield. 
  • Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy’s Dominic Sperling recorded 120 rushing yards on eight carries and scored three touchdowns in a 50-6 win over Gayville-Volin.
  • FMFA's Karter Weber completed four passes for 110 yards and threw two touchdowns, while rushing for 131 yards and two more scores.   
  • Brandon Valley’s Levi Veskrna rushed for 267 yards on 43 carries and scored three touchdowns in a 35-14 win over Pierre. 
  • Lennox’s Boston Katzer completed 24 of 37 passes for 344 yards and tossed four touchdowns passes in a 38-6 win over Dakota Valley. Katzer threw a pair of touchdown passes to Porter Ihnen, who hauled in nine catches for 165 yards. 
  • Clark/Willow Lake’s Emmerson Larson completed 10 of 19 passes for 153 yards, while throwing touchdown passes to Elliot Bratland and Josh Kannegieter. Larson also scored a rushing touchdown. 
  • Great Plains Lutheran’s Brody Scharleman completed 6 of 10 passes for 138 yards and scored five total touchdowns in a 57-14 win over Florence-Henry. Scharleman rushed for 85 yards and scored three touchdowns, while passing for two more scores. 
  • Alcester-Hudson’s Mateo Kleinhans finished with 96 rushing yards on 17 carries and scored three touchdowns in a 48-26 win over Avon. He added 45 passing yards and a touchdown pass.

  • Castlewood’s Lane Tvedt passed for 146 yards and three touchdown passes in a 50-0 win over Oldham-Ramona-Rutland. 
  • Rapid City Christian’s Braylon Marshall rushed for 207 on 17 carries and scored three touchdowns in a 37-0 win over Hill City. 
  • Estelline-Hendricks’ Caden Ching rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns in a 54-12 win over Waverly-South Shore. Ching added 35 yards receiving and returned an interception for a touchdown.
  • Mattix Hausman added 109 yards rushing and three touchdowns for the Redhawks. Hausman completed 7 of 14 passes for 64 yards and a touchdown.
  • Mitchell's Parker Denne scored four total touchdowns, including a game-clinching pick-six, in a 35-28 win over Spearfish. 
  • Spearfish's Seth Hamilton threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns against the Kernels. 
  • Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Tate Schafer completed 12 of 14 passes for 134 yards and threw five touchdowns against Rapid City Stevens.
  • Sioux Falls Roosevelt's Jackson Brouwer completed 19 of 23 passes for 252 yards and threw four touchdowns in a 40-6 win over Rapid City Central.
