Residing on the extreme northwestern border of South Dakota the Harding County girls wrestling team doesn’t have the opportunity to mix it up with the typical powers of South Dakota girls very often. The Rancher girls competed in the 31-team Pierre girls invitational on Friday, Jan. 24 and the girls showed well scoring 54 points and finishing 13th in the team standings.

Kanyn Padden was the top Rancher finisher grabbing second place with an 11-9 decision won by Rapid City Central’s Anna Henstian, RC Central. Padden is now ranked No. 4 at 120 in the latest Dakota Grappler rankings. Teammates Harding County (145) and Jayce Turbiville (152) are also ranked in their respective weight classes.

The Pierre girls retain the top ranking and are projected to score 150 points, ahead of Watertown (114) and Canton (105). Lakota Tech (83) and Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon (82) round out the top five teams.
