Flandreau 56, Mahpiya Luta 41

BROOKINGS — Three players reached double figure scoring as Flandreau ran past Mahpiya Luta to claim fifth place at the Class A state tournament in Brookings Saturday. 

Lizzie Pavlis posted a double-double of 17 points and ten rebounds. Lilly Klein poured in 17 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and dished out five assists. Claire Sheppard finished her high school career with a 13 point, six rebound effort in the win. 

Ashlan Carlow-Blount led Mahpiya Luta with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Jodene Hunter and Taleah Lunderman also had 10 points for the Crusaders. 



Mount Vernon/Plankinton 60, Hanson 49

BROOKINGS — Reagan Rus and Emilee Fox put a stamp on their basketball season combining for 50 points as Mount Vernon/Plankinton raced past Hanson to claim seventh place at the 2024 Class A state tournament. 

Rus erupted for 28 points and six assists to lead MVP. Fox wrapped up her high school career canning four 3-pointers and finishing with 22 points, seven rebounds and two assists. 

Hanson’s Eliza Oltmanns capped off a tremendous state tournament with 14 points and nine rebounds. Taziah Hawkins made three 3-pointers scoring 13 points and dishing out three assists. Alyssa Moschell chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds. 



Sisseton 68, Sioux Falls Christian 52

BROOKINGS — Krista Langager and Hannah Leverson combined for 46 points as Sisseton defeated Sioux Falls Christian to claim third place at the Class A state tournament Saturday.

Langager dominated down low and finished with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Leverson had her best game of the tournament knocking down three 3-pointers and finishing with 19 points, three rebounds and four assists. Chloe Langager scored five points and grabbed nine rebounds. 

Jaxsyn Swift led Sioux Falls Christian with 14 points, four rebounds and five assists. Avery Reitz added 13 points and six rebounds while Aubrie VanBeek chipped in with nine points.
