RAPID CITY — Teams from all corners of South Dakota will converge in Rapid City for the Class B girls basketball tournament. 

The eight-team field features nearby West River teams Wall, Lyman and Harding County, while Arlington, James Valley Christian, Ethan, Centerville and Warner round out the field. 

Here’s a look at all eight teams in the tournament: 


Arlington 

Record: 21-2 

Coach: Tara King 

Key players: Addalyn Steffensen (16.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg), Jaelyn Huntimer (14.2 ppg, 4.6 rpg), Jolyssa Steffensen (8.7 ppg), Harley Johnson (8.5 ppg, 68 assists), Issie Steffensen (5.1 ppg). 

Notes: No. 1 Arlington will play No. 8 James Valley Christian at noon MT in the opener. The Cardinals edged James Valley Christian, 49-47, on Feb. 8. … Arlington lost to state tournament teams Flandreau (Class A) and Ethan (Class B). … Arlington last qualified for the state tournament in 2011. 


James Valley Christian

Record: 16-6 

Coach: Krista Robinson  

Key players: Kaylie Robinson (16.3 ppg, 9 rpg), Alexa Goertz (16 ppg, 3.4 rpg), Addison Bartholow (10 ppg, 4.5 rpg).  

Notes: No. 8 Arlington will play No. 1 James Valley Christian at noon MT in the opener. The Vikings lost to Arlington, 49-47, on Feb. 8. … James Valley Christian lost to Class B qualifiers Ethan and Lyman during the regular season. … The Vikings last qualified for the state tournament in 2010. 


Ethan 

Record: 20-2 

Coach: Tom Young 

Key players: Ava Lingemann (20.2 ppg, 7.3 apg, 3.2 rpg, 2.5 spg), Marissa Storm (14.8 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 3.2 spg), Ella Pollreisz (9.5 ppg, 5 rpg, 4 apg), Madeline Bartscher (10 ppg, 4 rpg). 

Notes: No. 4 Ethan will play No. 5 Wall at 1:45 p.m. MT in the opener. … Ethan lost to Class A qualifier Hanson and Class B foe Freeman during the regular season. … Ava Lingemann, a 5-foot-6 senior guard, will play at Dordt University. … The Rustlers are playing in their ninth state tournament since 2015.

Wall 

Record: 19-4 

Coach: John Hess  

Key players: Paige Kjerstad (15.3 ppg, 9.8 rpg), Rhea Tucker (12.2 ppg, 8.3 rpg), Nora Dinger (12.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg), Alexis Stephan (6.8 ppg), Bailey Cerney (5.2 ppg) and Faith Frink (5.1 ppg).   

Notes: No. 5 Wall will play No. 4 Ethan at 1:45 p.m. MT in the opener. … Wall lost to Class A qualifier Mahpiya Luta and Class B entrant Centerville. The Eagles defeated conference foe and Class B qualifier Lyman. … Nora Dinger, a 5-foot-6 senior guard, will play college basketball at Dakota Wesleyan University. … Wall has qualified for three straight state tournaments, including last season’s runner-up finish. 


Harding County

Record: 22-0 

Coach: Jay Wammen  

Key players: Claire Verhulst (11.7 ppg, 4.3 apg, 3.7 spg), Bailey Verhulst (9.3 ppg, 4.6 spg), Jaelyn Wendt (8.7 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 3.7 spg), Kelsi Costello (7 ppg, 2.7 apg), Kamry Padden (6 ppg, 2.7 rpg), Brayden Padden (5.9 ppg, 5 rpg), Raelee Hunsucker (5.8 ppg, 2.5 apg).

Lyman

Lyman defeated Class B entrant James Valley Christian, 53-47. … Lyman last qualified for a state tournament in 2014. … Skyler Volmer, a 5-foot-9 senior guard, will play college basketball at North Dakota. Volmer was a third-team all-stater last season. … Mak Scott, a 6-foot sophomore, is coming off a school-record 40 points in a SoDak 16 win over Kadoka Area. 


Centerville

Record: 21-2 

Coach: Tucker Tornberg 

Key players: Althea Gust (13.8 ppg, 3.3 apg, 2.4 rpg), Emma Marshall (12 ppg, 7.5 rpg), Keira Austin (9.2 ppg), Izzie Eide (8.7 ppg), Lillie Eide (8.2 ppg), MaKayla Heesch (6 ppg, 6.8 rpg).

Warner
