3-Class Shoot-Out Roundup - Class AA teams sweep Class A, B

Boys

Class AA 93, Class A 88

Five players scored in double figures as Class AA outlasted Class A at the 3-Class Shoot-Out on Saturday.

Sioux Falls Roosevelt’s Marcus Phillips led Class AA with 23 points and nine rebounds. Sioux Falls Washington’s Mikele Kambalo and Mitchell’s Caden Hinker scored 13 points apiece, while Hinker collected six rebounds. Roosevelt’s Micah Johnson recorded 11 points, while Aberdeen Central’s Alec Voegele finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Watertown’s Drew Norberg finished with eight points, seven rebounds and four assists. Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s David Alpers III added six points and five rebounds. Roosevelt’s Vance Borchers had seven rebounds. 

Tea Area’s Cael Lundin tossed in 20 points on his way to MVP honors. Flandreau’s Tash Lunday recorded 18 points, 16 rebounds and four assists. Clark/Willow Lake’s Tyler O’Neill finished with 14 points, while West Central’s Dillon Jackson added 11 points. Parker’s Carter Robertson finished with 10 points. Flandreau’s Chase LeBrun recorded five points and six rebounds. Sioux Falls Christian’s Nathan Koole added eight rebounds.

Class AA 122, Class B 86

Mitchell’s Caden Hinker paced Class AA to a 36-point win over Class B at the 3-Class Shoot-Out on Saturday.

Hinker finished with 26 points, 14 rebounds and won the slam dunk contest in between boys games. Hinker shared MVP honors with Roosevelt’s Marcus Phillips, who netted 16 points and grabbed five rebounds. Washington’s Mikele Kambalo added 21 points, while Aberdeen Central’s Alec Voegele had 13 points and eight rebounds. Roosevelt’s Vance Borchers recorded 10 points.

De Smet’s Kalen Garry tossed in 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds on his way to MVP honors. Potter County’s Cooper Logan scored 18 points and Freeman Academy/Marion’s Quincy Blue scored 14 points. 


Girls

Class AA 95, Class A 75

Sioux Falls Washington’s Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda logged a double-double to power Class AA to a 20-point win over Class A at the 3-Class Shoot-Out on Saturday.

Mwenentanda, a University of Texas signee, finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Brandon Valley’s Sidney Thue added 17 points and hit four 3-pointers. Rapid City Stevens’ Bailee Sobczak and Sioux Falls Roosevelt’s Kaela Martinez logged 12 points and six boards apiece. Yankton’s Ellie Karolevitz and Rapid City Stevens’ Jayda McNabb finished with 11 points and seven boards apiece. Brandon Valley’s Kylie Foss finished with six points and seven rebounds, while Harrisburg’s Emilee Boyer collected eight rebounds. 

For Class A, MVP Bella Swedlund logged 17 points and eight rebounds. The University of Kansas signee added three 3-pointers. Dakota Valley’s Rylee Rosenquist recorded 12 points and eight rebounds. McCook Central/Montrose’s Ashtyn Wobig had 10 points. Red Cloud’s Stevi Fallis and Flandreau’s Maria Parsley scored nine points apiece. West Central teammates Tabor Teel and Addy Kramer scored eight and six points, respectively. Kramer added seven rebounds. 


Class AA 98, Class B 71 

Sioux Falls Washington’s Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda logged a 3-Class Shoot-Out scoring record and lifted Class AA to a 27-point victory over Class B on Saturday. 

Mwenentanda, the Class AA MVP, poured in 34 points and collected 15 rebounds. She broke the previous scoring record set by Sioux Falls Washington’s Anna Goodhope (27) in 2016. 

Rapid City Stevens’ Bailee Sobczak finished with 19 points and nine rebounds. Roosevelt’s Kaela Martinez added 11 points and five rebounds. Stevens’ Jayda McNabb recorded 10 points and eight rebounds, while Harrisburg’s Emilee Boyer added 10 points and five rebounds. Yankton’s Ellie Karolevitz posted five points and seven rebounds. 

For Class B, Corsica-Stickney’s Rachel Gerlach finished with 17 points and earned MVP honors. White River’s Maleighya Estes and Corsica-Stickney’s Morgan Clites scored 10 points apiece. De Smet’s Kennadi Buchholz logged nine points and eight rebounds, while Aberdeen Christian’s Hanna Miller finished with seven points and six rebounds. Viborg-Hurley’s Delana Mach scored seven points.
