Parkston 36, Kimball/White Lake 8

KIMBALL — Parkston recorded 302 total yards and picked up a season-opening win over Kimball/White Lake on Friday. 

Brayden Jervik, Luke Bormann, Jesse Newton and Kaleb Weber each scored rushing touchdowns. Jervik rushed for a team-high 81 yards on 13 carries. Weber added a touchdown reception to Newton. Defensively, Porter Neugebauer had 7.5 tackles. Bormann and Kaden Holzbauer added interceptions, while Will Jodozi had a sack. 

KWL’s Nathan Mohnen had a rushing touchdown and finished with 19 receiving yards. Carter Lenz rushed for 31 yards and threw for 24 yards. Mohnen recorded a team-high 7.5 tackles.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton 37, Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central 8

MOUNT VERNON — Reed Rus accounted for all five of Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s touchdowns as the Titans pulled away from Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central for a high school football win on Friday.

Reed Rus led the Titans with 165 yards passing and two touchdown passes, while also rushing for 94 yards on nine carries and three touchdowns. Christopher Mayer had two receptions for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Rus and Brady Fox led the defense with 7.5 tackles each. The Titans racked up 416 yards of total offense.

For WWSSC, Holden Havlik threw for 45 yards and one interception, while rushing for 42 yards and one touchdown. Camden Jost rushed for 64 yards. Defensively, Toby Kneen and Tyson Eddy each had seven tackles.

Corsica-Stickney 20, Gayville-Volin 12

GAYVILLE — Three different players scored touchdowns to lift Corsica-Stickney to a high school win over Gayville-Volin on Friday. 

Caleb Baumiller, Waylon Bolle and Carter Wright each scored rushing touchdowns. Baumiller finished with 98 rushing yards, while Bolle added 90 rushing yards. Shad Bosma finished with 18 passing yards, while Wright added 19 receiving yards. Wright had a team-high eight tackles and Brock Hinker had an interception. 

Gayville-Volin’s Spencer Karstens recorded 161 passing yards and threw a touchdown reception to Hunter Wuebben, who had 62 receiving yards. Karstens added 20 rushing yards. Ben Rumsey posted a team-high 10 tackles. 

 

Castlewood 20, De Smet 14

CASTLEWOOD — Castlewood outscored De Smet 12-0 in the second half to secure a high school football win on Friday. 

Lane Tvedt finished with 120 passing yards and threw two touchdown passes. Quincy Thu added 84 rushing yards on seven carries and scored a rushing touchdown. Thu and Brooker Schooley both hauled in touchdown receptions. Bryon Laue recorded 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

De Smet’s Kadyn Fast finished with 87 rushing yards and had a rushing touchdown. Trace VanRegenmorter added a rushing touchdown and threw for 10 yards. Fast had two receptions for 16 yards. Dylan Zell and Tom Aughenbaugh had seven tackles apiece. Noah Harrison had an interception. 

 

Canistota 43, Irene-Wakonda 28

CANISTOTA — Class 9A No. 1 Canistota scored 36 first half points and held off Irene-Wakonda for a high school football win on Friday.

Tage Ortman passed for 137 yards and two touchdowns, while also intercepting a pass on defense. Noah Kleinsasser rushed six times for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Levi Schroeder tallied 58 yards rushing and Cayden Scott added 57 yards rushing and one touchdown. Tye Merrill had one rushing and one receiving touchdown and led with 64 yards receiving. Austin Weber also had a touchdown reception. Scott led the defense with 10 tackles.

For Irene-Wakonda, Dashel Spurrell ran for 131 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns. Chase Dahlerup added 70 yards rushing and two scores.

 

Winner 48, Tri-Valley 12

COLTON — Class 11B No. 1 Winner rolled up 325 rushing yards as the Warriors cruised past Tri-Valley for a high school football win on Friday.

Riley Orel led the Warriors rushing attack with 10 carries for 131 yards and four touchdowns. Orel also had a punt return for a touchdown. Aiden Barfuss and Stratton Morehart each added one rushing touchdown. Blake Volmer passed for 34 yards on one completion.

For Tri-Valley, Eli McFarland passed for 23 yards, while Austin McNulty had two catches for 20 yards. Brody Dybvig had one rushing touchdown. Defensively, Tyler Groenewald had a 13 yard interception return for a touchdown.

 

Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan 44, Baltic 0

BRIDGEWATER — Class 11B No. 2 Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan racked up 326 yards and picked up a season-opening win over Baltic on Friday. 

Riley Endres led BEE with 142 rushing yards and had a rushing touchdown. Sam Hofer scored two rushing touchdowns and threw a touchdown pass to Drake Gustafson. Kory Storm and Jayden Eddy added rushing touchdowns, while Sutton Arend had 59 receiving yards. Koby Klumb finished with a team-high seven tackles. 

Baltic’s Payton Anderson had 26 rushing yards, while Isaac Weeman added 22 rushing yards. Briley Kick posted six tackles.

Miller/Highmore-Harrold 23, Wagner 14

MILLER — Miller/Highmore-Harrold picked up a season-opening win over Wagner on Friday.

Rustler quarterback Trey Knox finished with 115 passing yards and threw a touchdown to Mason Knox, who finished with 61 receiving yards. Tate Hoffman added 75 rushing yards on 13 carries. Trey Knox added an interception return for a score. 

Wagner’s Chris Nelson finished with 105 passing yards and scored two total touchdowns. Glenn Cournoyer finished with 57 receiving yards and hauled in a touchdown reception. Nelson added seven tackles on defense.


Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy 34, Burke 12

BURKE — Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy pulled away from Burke to earn their first win as a coop in a high school football game on Friday.

Riley Tschetter passed for 242 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 33 yards. Maddox Kihne ran for 64 yards and one touchdown, while Dominic Sperling added 15 yards rushing and one touchdown. Rocky Ammann had three receptions for 11 yards and one touchdown, while Matt Hagen tallied seven receptions for 63 yards and one touchdown. Kihne added four catches for 59 yards and one touchdown.

For Burke, Reed Benter passed for 63 yards, while Breven Bolander led with 51 yards rushing. Benter and Ira Burroughs each had one rushing touchdown. Sawyer Tietgen had one catch for 39 yards and Karson Longe had one catch for 24 yards.


Hitchcock-Tulare 54, Northwestern 0 

TULARE — Hitchcock-Tulare blanked Northwestern in Friday high school football action. 

Erik Salmen led the Patriots with 122 rushing yards on 15 carries and scored three touchdowns. Carter Binger added 198 passing yards and three passing touchdowns, while he had a five-yard rushing score. Brendan Nowell added a passing touchdown. Landon Puffer hauled in 94 receiving yards and caught two touchdown receptions. T.J. Salmen and Cole Schroeder each caught touchdown receptions. 

The Patriots racked up 131 rushing yards and 233 passing yards. 

Defensively, Erik Salmen and T.J. Salmen had five solo tackles apiece. Erik Salmen added an interception and T.J. Salmen had two fumble recoveries. Binger had an interception and a force fumble. Northwestern was held to 34 total yards.


Viborg-Hurley 54, Sunshine Bible Academy 0

MILLER — Viborg-Hurley used a 32-point first quarter to cruise past Sunshine Bible Academy for a high school football win on Friday.

Luke Campbell rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns to lead Viborg-Hurley. Evan Campbell tallied 61 yards and one rushing touchdown, while Chance Schollerman added 55 yards rushing and one score. Wyatt Huber also had a rushing touchdown. Brady Schroedermeier passed for 84 yards and two touchdowns. Jake Austin and Kobee Sherman each had one receiving touchdown. 

For SBA, Nolan Triebwasser rushed for 51 yards on 15 carries.


Britton-Hecla 44, Great Plains Lutheran 34

BRITTON — Britton-Hecla outlasted Great Plains Lutheran for a high school football win on Friday.

Britton-Hecla’s BoDell Davidson passed for 152 yards and two scores, while rushing for 143 yards and two scores. Collin Beaner ran for 44 yards and one touchdown. Gage Storley and Wyatt Tosse each had one touchdown reception. Defensively, Gage Storley, Luke Storley, and Dawson Treeby each had one interception. Dashel Davidson led with eight tackles.

For GPL, Thomas Erickson rushed for 136 yards on 25 carries and four touchdowns. Brody Scharlemann ran for 92 yards on 15 carries and Micah Holien added 58 yards rushing and one touchdown. Holien also led the defense with 7.5 tackles.


Ipswich 50, Faulkton Area 20 

IPSWICH — Ipswich pulled away from Faulkton Area for a high school football win on Friday.

Ian Beyers led Ipswich with 212 yards passing and three touchdowns while rushing for 88 yards and two touchdowns. Tyler Hettich rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 65 yards receiving and one touchdown reception. Trevor Heinz and Carter Geditz each had touchdown catches. Geditz led the defense with 17 tackles, while Heinz added 12 tackles.

For Faulkton Area, Layne Cotton passed for 133 yards and one touchdown. Garrett Cramer had 82 rushing yards and one score, while Roman DeMaria had one rushing and one receiving touchdown.


Elk Point-Jefferson 50, Parker 0

PARKER — Elk Point-Jefferson built a 35-0 halftime lead en route to a high school football win over Parker on Friday. 

The Huskies racked up 472 total yards, including 316 rushing yards. Lucas Hueser rushed for 170 yards on nine carries and scored three rushing touchdowns. Devon Schmitz (90 rushing yards) and Benjamin Swatek (43 rushing yards) added rushing touchdowns. Noah McDermott threw for 156 yards and threw two touchdown passes to Schmitz. Swatek logged a team-high 52 receiving yards. Hunter Sharkey and Hunter Geary logged four tackles apiece. Hueser added an interception on defense. 

Parker was held to 47 total yards. Ray Travnicek finished with 40 rushing yards. Jack Even and Charlie Patten rushed for 10 yards apiece. Patten added 20 receiving yards and had a team-high five tackles. Levi Berens had an interception. 


Sioux Valley 34, Jim River 14

VOLGA — Sioux Valley logged 301 rushing yards to pick up a high school football win over Jim River on Friday.

Sioux Valley’s Brock Christopherson rushed for 113 yards on 10 carries and scored two rushing touchdowns. Jace Christensen threw for 100 yards and threw two touchdown passes to Hudsyn Ruesink, who had 57 receiving yards. Christensen added a rushing touchdown. 

Jim River’s Kadeyn Ulmer threw for 86 yards. Logan Sayler scored a rushing touchdown and returned an 87-yard kickoff return for a score. Stephen Johnson rushed for 58 yards, while Brayden Sattler logged 85 receiving yards. 


Deuel 14, Clark/Willow Lake 0

CLEAR LAKE — Deuel picked up a Northeast Conference win over Clark/Willow Lake in a high school football game on Friday.

Deuel’s Brayden Simon threw for 48 yards and rushed for 55 yards. Owen Quail rushed for 54 yards and two touchdowns.

For CWL, Tyson Huber passed for 40 yards, while Trey Huber rushed for 30 yards. 


Chester Area 34, Garretson 17

GARRETSON — Chester Area doubled up Garretson for a high school football win on Friday.

Layke Wold led Chester Area with 110 yards passing and two touchdowns. Garret Hansen rushed for 71 yards, while Max McGreevy had a rushing touchdown. Jovi Wolf had 63 yards rushing and a score while also adding 92 yards receiving and two scores.

Garretson’s Blaine Trower threw for 48 yards. Hunter Abraham ran for 168 yards on 28 carries and one score, while Carson Clark rushed for 106 yards and a score.


McCook Central/Montrose 20, Flandreau 7

FLANDREAU — McCook Central/Montrose piled up 351 total yards en route to a high school football win over Flandreau on Friday. 

Boston Katzer led the offense with 216 passing yards and two touchdown passes. Ty Doblar and Jackson Grady hauled in touchdown receptions. Will Cleveland hauled in eight receptions for five yards. 

Flandreau finished with 196 total yards, while Paul Parsley logged 191 passing yards and one touchdown pass to Ethan Hoffman. Kolby Peters finished with 59 receiving yards on five receptions. Hoffman added 30 rushing yards. 


Lyman 58, Jones County 8

MURDO — Lyman rolled up 449 total yards and raced past Jones County for a high school football win on Friday.

Tance Wagner led Lyman with 236 yards rushing on nine carries and four touchdowns. Teagan Gourneau threw for 98 yards and one touchdown. Cooper Long had 78 yards receiving and one score. Gourneau and Rory McManus each had one rushing touchdown. Long also added two pick-sixs on defense.

For Jones County, Kaden Kinsley passed for 164 yards and one touchdown, along with two interceptions. Cooper Fedderson had six catches for 121 yards and one score.


Avon 30, Colome 6

COLOME — Paxton Bierema scored three rushing touchdowns to lift Class 9B No. 3 Avon to a high school win over Colome on Friday. 

Bierema finished with 53 rushing yards on six carries, while Cade Faulkner added 53 rushing yards and scored a rushing touchdown. Jaden Stahl added 90 rushing yards. Kley Heumiller logged 7.5 tackles, while Noah Watchorn had an interception. 

Colome’s Eli Vobr rushed for 50 yards on 13 carries and scored a rushing touchdown. Jonah Musser had seven tackles, while Vobr and Kash Heath intercepted passes.
