Flandreau Cardinals 7, Menno Mad Frogs 2

MITCHELL — Flandreau jumped out to a 7-0 lead and advanced past Menno at the Class B state amateur baseball tournament Sunday at Cadwell Park.

Keith Cutler and Aiden Ladd had two hits apiece, while Grant Hieb, Jordan Gesling, Brian McGuire, Bret Severtson and Nate Kneebone each had a hit. Kneebone drove in two runs. 

Dallas Schneiderman took the win. He struck out two batters, allowed two hits, zero runs and zero walks in his four-inning start. Drew Weber allowed three hits and one earned run in five relief innings. 

Menno’s Dylan Lehr finished with two hits, while Spencer Schultz, Jamison Kleinsasser and Dustin Livingston added hits. Doug Hall took the loss after allowing five hits, five earned runs, five walks and struck out two batters in his 2.1-inning start.

Kimball/White Lake Nationals 7, Castlewood Monarchs 2

MITCHELL — Zak Wallner struck out 11 batters to lift Kimball/White Lake to a Class B state amateur baseball tournament Sunday at Cadwell Park. 

Wallner scattered 13 hits, allowed two earned runs and two walks on 157 pitches. Wallner also had a hit on offense. 

KWL’s Trent Wookey logged three hits, while Dylanger Pierson had two hits and two RBI. Kelly O’Bryan logged two hits and drove in three runs. Caden Lenz and Seth Kirsch had hits. 

For Castlewood, Jacob Tvedt had three hits and drove in a run. Parker Schmidt, Rhett Florey, Josh Cleveland and Lucas Ching each had two hits. Cleveland took the loss after giving up 12 hits, five earned runs, five walks and struck out five batters through eight innings.

 

Garretson Bluejays 11, Madison Broncos 1

MITCHELL — The Garretson Bluejays raced past the Madison Broncos for a win at the Class B amateur baseball tournament Sunday at Cadwell Park.

Joey Fitzgerald took the win for Garretson, allowing one run on four hits in eight innings, while striking out seven.

Garretson collected 12 hits, with Robin Chute tallying three hits in four at bats to lead the Bluejays. Jesse Brockhouse, Brady Bonte, Tayson Swatek each added two hits. Brockhouse led with three RBI and Scott Splett had two RBI.

Aspen Dahl took the loss for Madison, giving up seven hits and four runs in five innings, while striking out three.

Dahl, Greg Biagi, Tyler Tappe, and Ty Jorgenson each had one hit for Madison, while Josh Giles had one RBI.

Mount Vernon Mustangs 3, Milbank Firechiefs 2

MITCHELL — The Mount Vernon Mustangs edged the Milbank Firechiefs for a win at the Class B amateur baseball tournament Sunday at Cadwell Park.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Chase Hetland hit a game-winning RBI single to score Koby Larson for deciding run. Luke Tiesler picked up the win for Mount Vernon, surrendering four hits and two runs in nine innings, while striking out four.

Hetland and Spencer Neugebauer tallied two hits each to lead Mount Vernon. Hetland drove in two runs, while Eric Giblin drove in one run.

Dominique Boerger took the loss for Milbank, giving up three runs on seven hits in eight innings, while striking out 17 batters.

Taylor Boerger, Lance Frogner, Kaden Krause, and Justin Larson each had one hit for Milbank, while Krause and Travis Lester drove in one run apiece.
