BERESFORD — The Brandon Valley boys and Canton girls captured team titles at Tuesday’s Beresford Lions Club Meet. 

The Brandon Valley boys amassed 166 points, finishing ahead of West Central (150.5) and Elk Point-Jefferson (109.5). The Canton girls racked up 149 points, finishing in front of West Central (134) and Elk Point-Jefferson (120). 

Double winners in boys action included Brandon Valley’s Cole Borchardt in the 100-meter dash (:11.58) and 200-meter dash (:23.37). Lynx athlete Aaron VanHemert won the 110-meter hurdles (:16.25) and 300-meter hurdles (:41.08).

West Central’s Gunnar Cuka won the long jump (19-09) and triple jump (40-08) while Elk Point-Jefferson’s Jason Lichtenberg won the shot put (43-01) and discus (130-10). 

The West Central boys had a strong day in the relays winning the 400-meter relay (:45.73), 800-meter relay (1:33.47) and sprint medley relay (3:51.03). 

For the girls, Canton’s Fallan Lundstrom was a double-winner taking the 100-meter hurdles (:16.25) and javelin (100-07).

The West Central and Beresford girls both had good days in the sprint relays. The Watchdogs won the 400-meter relay (:51.38) with West Central finishing 2nd (:51.86). The Trojans won the  800-meter relay (1:49.2) with Beresford finishing 2nd (1:50.62). 

The Vermillion girls captured the 3,200 meter relay (10:11.78) and the sprint medley relay (4:30.95).
