Winner and Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan, two Class 11B stalwarts, have had a stranglehold on the class for the past handful of seasons.

The Warriors and Seahawks have combined to play in the past seven Class 11B state championships, clashing in the past three title tilts. Winner has captured the past two state championships, while BEE won the 2019 title. They’ll play on Sept. 30 in Bridgewater in a regular season matchup.

Winner and Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan were picked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, in the preseason poll. The Warriors received all 18 first-place votes.

Elk Point-Jefferson, Sioux Valley and St. Thomas More rounded out the top-five teams in the preseason poll.
