Sisseton 57, Mount Vernon/Plankinton 47

BROOKINGS — Three players scored in double figures as Sisseton picked up a win over Mount Vernon/Plankinton in the first round of the Class A state tournament in Brookings Thursday. 

Krista Langager powered Sisseton with 23 points and six rebounds. Chloe Langager had 12 points and 14 rebounds. Ruby Rice hit three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points while Hannah Leverson had four points and five assists. 

Emilee Fox led Mount Vernon/Plankinton with 16 points, six rebounds and four assists. Reagan Rus had added 16 points and six rebounds for the Titans. 


Sioux Falls Christian 53, Hanson 42

BROOKINGS — Three players scored in double figures as Sioux Falls Christian defeated Hanson in first round action from the Class B girls state tournament Thursday.

Maya Nelson led the Chargers with 14 points, three rebounds and two steals. Avery Reitz scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Aubree VanBeek added 10 points and four assists while Jaxsyn Swift scored eight points. 

Eliza Oltmanns led Hanson with 14 points and six rebounds. Avery Moschell had 13 points and nine rebounds and Taziah Hawkins scored 13 points. 


Tea Area 52, Flandreau 47

BROOKINGS — Big games from Ellie Clayberg and Katie Vasecka helped Tea Area knock off undefeated Flandreau on Thursday at the Class A girls state tournament.

Clayberg hit two 3-pointers and finished with 17 points to lead the Titans. Vasecka scored 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out five assists. Haidyn West added nine points and two assists while Mara Grant chipped in with six points and five rebounds. 

Lily Klein led Flandreau with 19 points, four rebounds and two assists. Claire Sheppad finished with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists. Lizzie Pavlis chipped in with eight points and 13 rebounds.
