Editor's Note: Each week 605 Sports will release the top-10 performers for track & field for all events and all classes. The information used for these lists comes from the top performers list provided on sdhsaa.com. 

Class AA boys track has gotten off to a fantastic start with three state records already falling. Aberdeen Central’s Sam Rohlfs (24-00.75) broke the state long jump record on April 8. Rapid City Stevens junior Simeon Birnbaum broke a 49-year old state record in the mile run (4:07.88) and Brandon Valley’s Julian Watson recently broke the state record in the 400 meters (:47.46). 

Birnbaum currently has the top times in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs in Class AA. 

One event to keep an eye on this spring is the boys shot put. On April 9, Sioux Falls Washington junior Kael Miedema reached (59-02.50). On April 21, Douglas junior Jason Maciejczak got out to (59-05.00). 

With the 200 meters selected as the special event for the Howard Wood Dakota Relays expect several AA guys to be in that field. Spearfish junior Jaden Guthmiller has run :21.74. Watson ran a :21.77 in Pierre and Rohlfs has a time of :22.08

Keep an eye on Brandon Valley’s 800-meter relay team. The Lynx quartet of Jeremiah Donahoe, Nate Anderson, Noah Thompson and Watson ran a 1:29.44 at Pierre’s American Legion Relays. The state record is 1:27.90 (Sioux Falls Lincoln, 2018). A time of 1:28.84 would move this Brandon Valley relay team into the top-10 all time in South Dakota.
