Class AA Girls Basketball Roundup - Washington outlasts Stevens for third-place finish

Sioux Falls Washington 67, Rapid City Stevens 64

RAPID CITY — Dana Harpe’s 20-point game helped Sioux Falls Washington defeat Rapid City Stevens for third place at the Class AA state girls basketball tournament Saturday.

Harpe finished with 20 points and nine rebounds, Grace Peterson totaled 12 points and six rebounds, Tierney Schramm added 10 points and four rebounds, Claire Woods had nine points and two steals, while Josie Biteler collected nine points, six assists, five rebounds and four blocks in the win.

Stevens’ Taaliyah Porter netted a game-high 37 points and nine rebounds in the loss, Haley Falcon added 12 points, while Jessa Griswold and Finley Love each tallied five points in the loss.


Sioux Falls Jefferson 52, Pierre 51

RAPID CITY — Abby Horner powered Sioux Falls Jefferson to a seventh place finish over Pierre Saturday at the State AA girls basketball tournament.

Horner finished with 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting, adding nine rebounds and three steals. Brinlee Altenburg had nine points, seven rebounds and four assists, Peyten Krull tallied eight points, three rebounds and three steals, while Ayleah Johnson tallied five points and seven rebounds in the win.

Pierre’s Emery Larson led the Governors with 23 points and four rebounds, Grace Richter tallied 10 points, five rebounds and five steals, while Lennix DuPris totaled nine points, seven rebounds and six assists in the loss.


Mitchell 49, Spearfish 38

RAPID CITY — Addie Siemsen and Lauren Van Overshelde powered Mitchell to a Class AA state consolation championship Saturday.

Siemsen finished with 13 points, five rebounds and two steals, Van Overschelde added 11 points and four rebounds, Carsyn Weich netted seven points, seven rebounds and three assists while Londyn Hajek had six points and three rebounds in the win.

Spearfish’s Jozie Dana had 11 points and five rebounds, Averie Kirk collected eight points and seven rebounds, while Adelyn Bouman, Kate Scharf and Mya Kochuten each tallied five points in the loss.


Sioux Falls O’Gorman 47, Brandon Valley 46

RAPID CITY — Sioux Falls O’Gorman storms back in the fourth quarter to stun Brandon Valley in the Class AA state championship Saturday.

Sydney Terveen led the Knights with 21 points, four rebounds and three steals, Ruby Moore added 14 points and six steals, Julia Eggert tallied eight points and three rebounds, while Ellie Meyer totaled eight rebounds in the win.

BV’s Alyvia Padgett recorded 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists, Amanda Lease totaled 11 points, three assists and three steals, Ava Kellenberger had nine points and four rebounds while Gracie Salter had six points and nine rebounds in the loss.
