Sioux Falls Jefferson 44, Harrisburg 40

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Jefferson pulled away from Harrisburg late to claim third place at the Class AA state tournament in Sioux Falls on Saturday. 

Freshman Brinley Altenberg knocked down three 3-pointers and led the Cavaliers with 23 points. Jaidyn Dunn added eight points and eight rebounds. Abby Horner scored seven points and Ayleah Johnson finished with six points. Abigail Flanagan led Harrisburg with 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Jaylee Hofer scored 13 points, and had four rebounds and two assists. 


Spearfish 59, Rapid City Stevens 50

SIOUX FALLS — A balanced scoring attack helped Spearfish hold off a late rally from Rapid City Stevens to claim seventh place in the Class AA girls state tournament. 

Maria Bouman led the Spartans with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists. Kate Scharf added nine points, four rebounds and two assists Sophie Guthmiller scored eight points, three rebounds and three assists.

Taaliyah Porter led Stevens with 16 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Jessa Griswold scored 13 points and Brittany Jones chipped in with nine points and six rebounds. 


Pierre 48, Mitchell 47

SIOUX FALLS — A balanced scoring attack and a strong fourth quarter helped Pierre edge Mitchell for fifth place at the Class AA state girls basketball tournament Friday 

Ryann Barry had a breakout game knocking down two 3-pointers and finishing with 16 points and seven rebounds. Lennix DuPris also hit a pair of 3-pointers on her way to 14 points. Reese Terwilliger added eight points and five rebounds. 

Addie Siemsen led Mitchell with 16 points and three rebounds. Sawyer Stoebner added 12 points and nine rebounds and Lauren VanOverscheide chipped in with ten points.
