Dakota Valley’s Claire Munch, Madelyn Munch headline Class A all-state volleyball team

Claire and Madelyn Munch of champion Dakota Valley headline South Dakota Class A volleyball all-state first team.

Claire Munch, a 5-foot-11 senior outside hitter, and Madelyn Munch, a 5-foot-9 junior setter, paced the Dakota Valley Panthers to a championship after finishing runner-up in 2024. The Panthers ended its season with a record of 33-3, winning its third state volleyball championship.

Claire Munch is a future University of Northern Iowa volleyball player, tallying 548 kills, 72 aces, 31 blocks and 310 digs in her senior year. Claire Munch ends her career with 1,761 kills, 1,312 digs, 129 blocks and 208 aces. Claire Munch is a two-time all-state selection and three-time all-Dak-XII selection for Dakota Valley.

Madelyn Munch totaled 997 assists, 161 digs and 55 aces as a junior for the state champion Panthers. The 5-foot-9 setter also has 71 kills in her career.

Madelynn Henry is a three-time all-state volleyball selection after earning those honors each of the last two seasons. Henry powered Dell Rapids to a runner-up finish with 609 kills, 269 digs and 76 aces in her junior campaign. Henry is a four-time all-Dak-XII conference pick and a three-time all-tournament team selection as well. She is a University of Oregon volleyball commit. The 6-foot outside hitter has totaled 2,074 kills, 1,068 digs and 275 aces in her career.

Jolie Palmer powered the Miller Rustlers to a 23-8 record with a SoDak 16 appearance this season as well. Palmer totaled 535 digs, 77 assists and 40 aces as a senior. The 5-foot-6 senior libero ends her career with 2,245 digs, 287 assists and 250 aces.

Faith King was an important piece to Rapid City Christian’s 30-13 record with a seventh place finish at the state tournament this season. A 5-foot-9 senior outside hitter, King collected 356 kills, 333 digs, 334 assists and 53 aces this year.

Tavyn Sichmeller was a focal point in Sioux Falls Christian’s run to the state tournament. The Chargers compiled a 27-11 record, finishing third at the Class A state tournament behind the 5-foot-10 outside hitter. Sichmeller collected 314 kills, 198 digs and 33 blocks in her final season with SFC.
