Dec. 8 Girls Basketball Roundup - Mitchell clips Huron in Friday action

Mitchell 42, Huron 38

HURON — A big night from Addie Siemsen helped the Mitchell girls pick up a road win over Huron on Friday night. 

Siemsen knocked down three 3 pointers, made 8 of 10 free throws and led Mitchell in scoring with 19 points. Siemsen added six rebounds and two steals for Mitchell. Sawyer Stoebner reached double-figures with 10 points while adding two assists and five rebounds. Laura VanOverschelde scored five points, had two rebounds and an assist. Allison Meyerink grabbed six rebounds while having two points and three assists. 

Huron’s Hamtyn Heinz finished with a game-high 20 points, hitting five 3-pointers and having four assists and four steals. Hylton Heinz finished with six points, two rebounds and an assist. Elizabeth Heinen had four points, six rebounds and two assists. 


Burke 46, Kimball/White Lake 43

BURKE — Burke held off Kimball/White Lake for a girls basketball win on Friday.

Burke’s Emmie Hausmann and Olivia Bull finished with 16 points apiece. Bull had nine rebounds, while Paige Bull had seven boards. Cecily Geaghan had six points. 

For KWL, Ryann Nielsen posted 17 points and eight rebounds. Harley Namanny had 10 points and six boards. Lindy Kiehn added seven rebounds. 


Wagner 58, Winner 44

WINNER — Ashlyn Koupal and Macy Koupal combined for 49 points to pace Class A No. 1 Wagner to a girls basketball win on Friday.

Ashlyn Koupal erupted for 35 points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots. Macy Koupal scored 14 points, to go along with 10 rebounds and six assists. Braxton Nedved had five points. 

For Winner, Kylie Sachtjen had nine points. Keelie Kuil, Adyson Pravecek and Cici Watson scored six points apiece. 


Howard 42, Dell Rapids St. Mary 35

HOWARD — Class B No. 4 Howard held off Dell Rapids St. Mary for a girls basketball win on Friday.

Howard’s Abby Aslesen finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Dakota Spader had 12 points. 

For Dell Rapids St. Mary, Brianna Griffin had 12 points and six rebounds. 


Arlington 58, Colman-Egan 35

ARLINGTON — Addalyn Steffensen and Jaelyn Huntimer combined for 37 points to pace Arlington to a girls basketball win on Friday. 

Steffensen had 22 points and hit four 3-pointers. Huntimer added 15 points, four assists and four rebounds. Harley Johnson had seven points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists. Jolyssa Steffensen had seven points. 

For Colman-Egan, Brynlee Landis scored 11 points and collected six rebounds. Kaylee Voelker had eight points. Lanie Mousel added six points, while Elaine Rhode had five points and six rebounds. 


Deubrook Area 47, De Smet 46

DEUBROOK — Deubrook Area clipped De Smet in a girls basketball game on Friday.

Deubrook Area’s Kylee Johnson finished with 13 points and Mataya Graves added 12 points. Kyarra Blum scored eight points. 

For De Smet, Hazel Luethmers tossed in a game-high 24 points. Alyssa Asleson scored eight points. 


Tea Area 63, Dakota Valley 38

NORTH SIOUX CITY — Class A No. 3 Tea Area pulled away from Dakota Valley for a girls basketball win on Friday.

Tea Area's Katie Vasecka finished with 25 points, 15 rebounds and five assists. Mara Grant added 14 points and 11 rebounds. Ellie Clayberg had 11 points. Miah Weber had five points. 

Dakota Valley’s Ella Otten logged 15 points, while Aubrey Worden had 14 points. Sophie Tuttle had six rebounds and Lexi Vaske had six boards. 

 

Beresford 51, Baltic 32

BERESFORD — Beresford’s Ella Merriman had a big game in a girls basketball win over Baltic on Friday.

Merriman finished with 34 points, six rebounds and six steals. Lily Seivert had six points. Harley Koth added 10 rebounds. 

For Baltic, Bayle Breece and Meredith Larson had 10 points apiece. 


Great Plains Lutheran 49, Michigan Lutheran, Mich., 16

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Great Plains Lutheran picked up a girls basketball win at the Lutheran Invitational Tournament.

GPL’s Abby Kjenstad logged 19 points and Madeline Prahl scored nine points. Esta Cameron and Halle Bauer scored seven points apiece. Katherine Prahl and Olivia Holmen both scored six points.
