Here are five matchups to watch this year’s Hanson Classic:

Wagner vs. Lyman

It’s No. 3 vs. No. 3 to start off the afternoon games.

Class A No. 3 Wagner plays Class B No. 3 Lyman at 1 p.m. in a matchup featuring college-level prospects.

Wagner is led by sisters Macy Koupal and Ashlyn Koupal. Macy, a 5-foot-9 senior, will play college basketball at Dordt University. Ashlyn, a 6-foot-3 sophomore, is a major Division I women’s basketball prospect with scholarship offers from Kansas, Iowa State, Miami (Ohio), Indiana, Nebraska, Colorado State and Creighton.

Lyman counters with Skyler Volmer, a 5-foot-9 senior that’s signed to play at Division I North Dakota next season. The Raiders are also paced by Mak Scott, a 6-foot sophomore forward.

Arlington vs. Ethan

A pair of top-five Class B teams will collide at 2:30 p.m.

No. 2 Ethan plays No. 5 Arlington in a contest featuring two teams eyeing deep postseason runs.

Ethan dropped a 59-56 decision against Hanson in the opener, but reeled off nine straight wins. The Rustlers defeated then-No. 1 Wagner, 63-49, on Dec. 21 in Wagner. Ethan is paced by senior guard Ava Lingemann, a 5-foot-6 senior that will play at Dordt University next season.

Arlington is riding a four-game winning streak and features a balanced attack, including junior guard Addalyn Steffensen.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton vs. Vermillion

There will be no shortage of playmakers in this one.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton is paced by Emilee Fox, a 5-foot-8 senior guard headed to South Dakota State University next season to play hoops. The Titans are also paced by Reagan Rus, Vanessa Hoffman, Berkeley Engelland and Kyia Schmidt.

Vermillion’s Brooke Jensen, a 6-foot-1 junior forward, has committed to play basketball at Augustana University. The Tanagers are also led by Taylor Reuvers, Jenaya Cleveland and Brooklyn Voss.

Lennox vs. Sisseton

Fresh off its No. 1 ranking, Sisseton will play Lennox at 7 p.m.

The Redmen are powered by 6-foot-1 senior Chloe Langager and 5-foot-5 senior guard Hannah Leverson, who will play college basketball at Minnesota State University Mankato. Sisseton is also paced by 6-foot-2 junior forward Krista Langager.

Lennox is led by Carli Kuyper, a 6-foot-3 senior forward, and Andie Peters, a 5-foot-4 sophomore guard.
