SIOUX FALLS — Scheduled to compete in the shot put at the Howard Wood meet on Friday night, Hamlin junior Gracelyn Leiseth spent her Friday afternoon spinning the discus into near record territory. Leiseth reached 151-9 in the discus, a personal best and the No. 3 throw in South Dakota history. 

Dupree’s Raelynn Vines captured titles in the 200-meter dash (:27.63) and 400-meter dash 1:04.26. 

Friday’s meet featured Class AA, and Class A divisions for the sprints and relays. Field events along with the 1,600 meter run and 3,200 meter run were open divisions combining athletes from both Classes. 

The Sioux Valley boys dominated the Class A relays taking titles in the 400-meter relay (:45.71), 800-meter relay (1:34.99), 1,600 meter relay (3:48.64) and sprint medley relay (4:00.01). 

In other boys action Sturgis hurdler Aiden Hedderman won the 110-meter hurdles (:15.47). Sioux Falls Washington won the Class AA, 400-meter relay (:43.42) with Mikah Peters of Brandon Valley winning the 3,200 meter run,10:15.32. 

In girls action Rapid City Stevens had a number of top performances. The Raiders picked up titles in the 200-meter dash (Ella Bradeen, :26.80), 800-meter run (Lucia Vidas, Rapid City 2:26.98), 800-meter relay (1:48.07).
