Ipswich track and field teams dominate home invitational

IPSWICH — With some of their first good weather of the outdoor season the Ipswich track teams took home titles at Thursday’s meet. 

The Ipswich boys scored 233.75 points to outdistance themselves from Northwestern (151.5) and Aberdeen Roncalli (146.75). Frederick Area managed 66.5 points while Kidder County (North Dakota) scored 52.5 

The Ipswich girls racked up 209 points, well ahead of Aberdeen Roncalli (164) and Kidder County (109). Northwestern finished with 109 points while Frederick Area scored 59 points. 

For the boys, the Tigers had a number of strong performances.

Senior Ty Kadlec cranked out season's bests in the 100-meter dash (:10.99) and 200-meter dash (:23.10). Freshman Maxwell Kulesa won the 800-meter run (2:08.54) and was second in the 1,600-meter run (4:58.90). Carter Geditz won the 110-meter hurdles (:15.78) while the foursome of Carson Gohl, Colby Sylte, Trevor Heinz and Ty Kadlec won the 400-meter relay (:46.67). Zach Geditz captured the shot put (44-03.25) and discus (131-03) with Tyler Hettich capturing the high jump (5-08) and Rasmus Loken winning the pole vault (9-06).

It was depth that carried the Ipswich girls to the team title as the Tigers won three events. The foursome of (Brianna Geditz, Ashley Ptacek, Kathryn Kilber and Vanesa Diaz), captured the 400-meter relay, :55.67. Marley Guthmiller won the pole vault (09-06) while Madisyn Gellhaus the 800-meter run (2:38.25)

Boys: 

400-meter dash: 1. Ethan Boekelheide, Northwestern :53.42 (No. 2 time in Class B). 

300-meter hurdles: 1. Maddox May, Aberdeen Roncalli :41.59 (No. 2 time in Class B). 

800-meter relay: 1. Frederick Area,  1:35.59 (No. 6 time in Class B).

1,600 meter relay: 1. Aberdeen Roncalli, 3:37.39 (No. 2 time in Class B ); 2. Frederick Area, 3:39.71 (No. 3 in Class B this season).

3,200 meter relay: 1. Northwestern, 8:54.73 (No. 2 in Class B this spring).


Girls: 

100-meter dash: 1. Jessica Boekelheide, Northwestern, :12.24 (equals No. 1 time in Class B).

400-meter dash: 1. Jessica Boekelheide, Northwestern, 1:02.69 (No. 3 time in Class B).

1,600 meter run: 1. Elle Boekelheide, Northwestern, 5:27.42) (No. 1 time in Class B).

3,200 meter run: 1.  Elle Boekelheide, Northwestern, 12:23.63 (No. 3 time in Class B).
