Jan. 31 Girls Basketball Roundup - Dell Rapids outlasts No. 10 Lakota Tech in overtime at Round Ball Classic

Dell Rapids 63, Lakota Tech 60 (OT)

VOLGA — Three players scored in double figures as Dell Rapids knocked off Class A No. 10 Lakota Tech in overtime at Saturday’s Round Ball Classic.

Rorie Thoreson led the Quarriers with 18 points, Elin Schoenhard added 12 points, including six free throws in overtime, Jersi Schultz totaled 11 points, Josie Price had nine points, Claire Witte totaled seven points while Taylor Schmidt netted six points in the win.

For LT, Lizzie Robinson had 19 points, Isabella Shangreaux totaled 15 points, Amelia Shangreaux netted 13 points while Tyriah Money poured in 10 points in the loss.


Rapid City Christian 42, West Central 40

VOLGA — Rapid City Christian clipped Class A No. 8 West Central during Saturday’s Round Ball Classic.

Brynn Casey led the Comets with 10 points, Sadie Marshall added eight points, Nora Kieffer collected seven points, Nia Selfridge had six points while Liza Kieffer netted five points in the win.

For West Central, Abbi Thornton led with 12 points, Kacey Jaton totaled 10 points while Ellie Knight recorded nine points in the loss.


Flandreau 56, Vermillion 18

VOLGA — Three players scored in double figures to power Flandreau to a girls basketball win at Saturday’s Round Ball Classic.

Flandreau’s Morgan Sheppard finished with 13 points and eight rebounds. Rhegan Sheppard added 11 points and six boards. Aly Schepel totaled 10 points. Tenley LeBrun scored eight points and Calla Wiese added seven points. Addy Hammer dished out six assists. 

For Vermillion, Taylor Reuvers scored 16 points and added five steals. 


Lyman 63, Wall 42

PRESHO — Three players scored in double figures to power Class B No. 1 Lyman to a girls basketball win on Saturday.

Lyman’s Jordyn Scott recorded 21 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and three steals. Mak Scott added 18 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists. Bree Smart totaled 17 points, five assists and four rebounds. Brooke Montgomery tallied six points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists. 

Wall stats were not reported. 

 

Bennett County 70, Jones County 30

MARTIN — Peyson O’Neill powered Class B No. 3 Bennett County to a girls basketball win on Saturday.

O’Neill finished with 26 points and five rebounds. Reagan O’Neill added 10 points and five boards. Macy Claussen had eight points, while Harley Harris and Addison Byrne totaled six points apiece. Olivia McMillan scored five points.

For Jones County, Aubrey Tucker and Jacey Jensen scored eight points apiece. BreAna Aske scored six points. 

 

Harding County 50, New Underwood 10

BUFFALO — Class B No. 10 Harding County coasted past New Underwood for a Saturday girls basketball win.

Harding County’s Macey Wendt recorded 18 points, five rebounds and three 3-pointers. Raelee Hunsucker totaled nine points on three 3-pointers and grabbed three rebounds. Kamry Padden totaled eight points and seven boards. Kaylen Padden added seven points and three rebounds.

For New Underwood, Maranda Poor Bear scored five points. 

 

North Central 50, Timber Lake 33 

TIMBER LAKE — Amree Vander Vorst and Ella Battie powered North Central to a girls basketball win over Timber Lake on Saturday. 

Vander Vorst had 20 points. Battie added 16 points and 19 rebounds. 

For Timber Lake, Kate Biegler scored 10 points and Ruby Maher had eight points. Jaylee Schoelerman scored five points.  

 

Elkton-Lake Benton 49, Great Plains Lutheran 40

WATERTOWN — Elkton-Lake Benton held off Great Plains Lutheran for a girls basketball win on Saturday.

ELB’s Gella Jones scored 12 points. Jocelyn Orosch and Charlie Thooft scored nine points apiece. Sydney DeVries and Peyton Kuehl scored eight points apiece.

For GPL, Katherine Prahl finished with 15 points and Julia Prahl added 13 points. 


Arlington 66, Lakeview (Minn.) 51

ARLINGTON — Three players scored in double figures to power Arlington to a girls basketball win on Saturday. 

Arlington’s Jaelynn Huntimer totaled 27 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and three steals. Lauryn Mutziger finished with 18 points, six rebounds and five assists. Emarie Vincent recorded 11 points. Seeley VanOverbeke recorded five points and six rebounds.
