FERROL, Spain — Former South Dakota State University women’s basketball player and Letcher native Myah Selland has signed to play professionally with Baxi Ferrol in Spain.

Baxi Ferrol is a women's professional Basketball team based in Ferrol, Spain. The team currently plays in the top tier of the Spanish League.

Mitchell native and fellow SDSU great Macy Miller also played for Baxi Ferrol for one season after starring for the Jackrabbits.

"Myah has been a leader at her university on South Dakota State and is a very versatile player in attack, with a great capacity to generate in 1-on-1 and in the post, and her reading and passing ability makes her teammates better," Baxi Ferrol coach Lino Lopez said in a release. "Her versatility allows her to defend outside and inside, just like most of the team's players. This will be her first experience (in the Spanish League), but she is sure that her personality, professionalism and her ambition will make her adapt very quickly to the team and the league.”

Selland ended her career at South Dakota State as an all-time Jackrabbit great. She ranks second in career scoring (2,167), fourth in career rebounding (887) and fifth in career assists (452) all-time at SDSU. Selland is the only player that ranks inside the top-10 in all three categories.

As a redshirt senior in 2022-23, Selland led the Jackrabbits with 16.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals per contest. She was the Summit League Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Summit Tournament Team while guiding the Jacks to regular season and postseason conference titles as well as to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The two-time Summit League Player of the Year helped the Jackrabbits to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a run to the Sweet 16 in 2019. In Selland's six seasons, SDSU won four Summit League regular seasons and three Summit League tournament championships.

Selland was a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention in 2021 and was the WNIT MVP in 2022. She is a three-time All-Summit First Team honoree and two-time Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year finalist (2021, 2023).

A Sanborn Central/Woonsocket standout, Selland was the South Dakota Miss Basketball in 2017 and finished as career leader in points (2,219), rebounds (964) and assists (532) and had 368 career steals and 211 blocks for the Blackhawks.
