O'Gorman's Mahli Abdouch, Brandon Valley's Hilary Behrens headline Class AA all-state squad

Brandon Valley’s Hilary Behrens and Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Mahli Abdouch were selected as co-Class AA players of the year this season. 

The future South Dakota State University women’s basketball players were the headliners for the Class AA all-state team, which is selected by the South Dakota High School Coaches Association. 

Behrens, a 6-foot senior forward, logged 17.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game for the Lynx. She’s making her third consecutive first-team selection. She has signed to play at South Dakota State University.

Abdouch, a 5-foot-8 junior guard, registered 16.4 points, 4.5 assists and 3.3 steals per game. She’s making her second straight all-state first team squad. She led the Knights to the Class AA consolation championship. 

Behrens and Abdouch are joined on the first team by Sioux Falls Washington’s Brooklyn Harpe, Pierre’s Remington Price, Sioux Falls Roosevelt’s Cierra Watkins and Mitchell’s Sawyer Stoebner. 

Harpe led the Warriors to their second Class AA state championship in the past three seasons. A 6-foot senior forward, Harpe posted 16.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. She will play basketball at the University of Sioux Falls. 

Price posted 13.6 points per game and graduated as the Governors’ all-time leading 3-point shooter. She led the Governors to the Class AA runner-up finish at the state tournament. 

Watkins logged 13 points per game for the Cavaliers, who finished third at the Class AA state tournament. Watkins, who will play basketball at Dakota State University, was the Spirit of Su recipient at the state tourney. She was a second-team all-stater last season. 

Stoebner logged 13.9 points and 11.1 rebounds per game for the Kernels, who upset No. 5 Brandon Valley in the SoDak 16 this season. The Kernels finished sixth at the state tournament. Stoeber, a 5-foot-9 junior, was a second team selection last season. 

The second team consists of Rapid City Stevens’ Taaliyah Porter, Sioux Falls Jefferson’s Jaidyn Dunn, Watertown’s Jaida Young, Pierre’s Reese Terwilliger, Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Mariah Siem and Sioux Falls Washington’s Grace Peterson.
