Top Performers of the Week - Lennox's Boston Katzer accounts for 5 touchdowns to continue monster season

The 2023 South Dakota high school football season resumed last week and top performances continued to roll in. 

Here are this week’s top performers across South Dakota for football games on Sept. 21-23.

  • Lennox’s Boston Katzer had a hand in five touchdowns in a 42-14 win over Beresford. Katzer completed 19 of 32 passes for 286 yards and four passing touchdowns, while rushing for 56 yards and another score. For the season, the junior quarterback has passed for 1,259 yards and 20 passing touchdowns. 

  • Hitchcock-Tulare’s Brendan Nowell completed all nine passes for 149 yards and two touchdown passes, while rushing for 36 yards and a touchdown. He added an interception on defense in the 52-0 win over Herreid/Selby Area. 

  • Herreid/Selby Area’s Houston Hauge rushed for 163 yards on 25 carries and scored touchdowns against Sully Buttes. 

  • Spearfish’s Seth Hamilton had a hand in all six touchdowns in a 40-7 win over Belle Fourche. The quarterback threw passing touchdowns to Dylon Doren, Caden Langenfield and Hunter Walters, while rushing for three rushing scores. 

  • Hot Springs’ Camron Maciejewski logged 201 rushing yards on nine carries and scored two touchdowns in a 50-0 win over Lead-Deadwood. 

  • Braden Peterson added two rushing touchdowns and two interceptions on defense against the Golddiggers. 

  • Dell Rapids' Mason Stubbe scored three rushing touchdowns and racked up 168 yards on the ground in a 63-8 win over Milbank. 

  • Gregory’s Rylan Peck accounted for three touchdowns as the Gorillas defeated Kimball/White Lake, 29-18. Peck scored a pair of rushing touchdowns, while throwing for another score. 

  • Kimball/White Lake’s Park Sinclair completed 10 of 20 passes for 112 yards and threw three passing touchdowns against Gregory. 

  • Wall’s Burk Blasius helped the Eagles pick up a 38-0 win over Lyman. The senior quarterback completed 7 of 13 passes for 126 yards and one touchdown, while rushing for 71 yards and two touchdowns.

  • Sioux Valley’s Boden Schiller rushed for 121 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns in a 34-12 victory over McCook Central/Montrose. Schiller added a passing touchdown. 

  • Hanson’s Brock Tuttle carried the ball 17 times for 131 yards and had four rushing touchdowns, helping the Beavers earn a 38-28 win over Canistota. 

  • Estelline-Hendricks’ Mattix Hausman accounted for 151 total yards and two touchdowns in a 34-22 win over Centerville. On defense, he intercepted three passes and logged four tackles. 

  • Estelline-Hendricks’ Caden Ching added 168 yards and two touchdowns in the win against Centerville. 

  • Centerville’s Alec Austin completed 25 of 39 passes for 291 yards and threw three passing touchdowns against Estelline-Hendricks. 

  • Covin Wattier hauled in 10 receptions for 134 yards and caught a touchdown for Centerville. 

  • Parkston’s Luke Bormann logged three touchdowns in a 52-0 win over Garretson. Bormann two scored rushing touchdowns, while returning a punt for a score.

  • Stanley County’s Colton Brady accounted for 171 rushing yards and two total touchdowns in a 36-0 win over White River. 

  • Barrett Schweitzer hauled in a touchdown catch and rushed for a touchdown for Stanley County. 

  • Holden Havlik had a hand in all five touchdowns in Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central’s 35-12 win over Tripp-Delmont/Armour/Andes Central/Dakota Christian. Havlik threw for three passing touchdowns, while rushing for two more scores. 

  • Wagner’s Gannon Knebel logged five total touchdowns in a 50-0 win over Scotland-Menno. Knebel rushed for 190 yards on 12 carries and rushed for three touchdowns. He added 138 passing yards and two more scores. 

  • Freeman-Marion-Freeman Academy’s Karter Weber accounted for seven total touchdowns in a 64-12 win over Colome. Weber rushed for 129 yards and five touchdowns, while he completed nine passes for 201 yards and two more scores. 

  • Pierre’s Jett Zabel accounted for four total touchdowns in a 49-20 victory over Watertown. Zabel hauled in three receiving touchdowns, while rushing for another score. Zabel finished with 108 receiving yards on eight catches. 

  • Pierre quarterback Cade Kaiser completed 19 of 34 passes for 347 yards and four touchdown passes. 

  • Sioux Falls Christian’s Lincoln Prins threw four passing touchdowns in a 35-7 win over Chamberlain. Prins threw three passing touchdowns to Cole Snyder, while throwing one to Johnny Skyberg. 

  • Avon’s Aziah Meyer accounted for 160 rushing yards on 12 carries in a 30-14 win over Corsica-Stickney. Meyer scored two rushing touchdowns and he hauled in a touchdown reception.
