Wagner’s Ashlyn Koupal made South Dakota basketball history on Feb. 2.

The senior girls basketball player was selected to play in the McDonald’s All-American game on Tuesday, March 31 at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Koupal is the first South Dakota girls basketball player to ever be selected to play in the prestigious all-star game.

A 6-foot-3 forward, Koupal will play college basketball at Nebraska. Koupal currently has 2,308 career points, which puts her top-15 on the all-time South Dakota girls basketball scoring list. Koupal is averaging 28.4 points, 15.2 rebounds, 4.7 blocks, 4.1 assists and 2.6 steals per game this season.

Koupal will play on the West team, which also features Providence Academy, Minnesota’s Maddyn Greenway. Greenway is the daughter of Mount Vernon native and former NFL linebacker Chad Greenway. Maddyn Greenway, who recently scored her 5,000th career point, will play college basketball at Kentucky.
